The classic singing competition television show American Idol is bringing back an “iconic” episode from the show’s previous seasons: Disney Night! The Official Disney Fan Club D23 has just revealed which Disney songs have made it into the lineup for this popular American idol theme. Take a look at the list below to see if any of your favorite Disney songs made the cut!

According to D23, “American Idol returns for a magical night of pixie dust-powered performances and surprise guests live on the Idol stage”. This Disney-themed episode of the show American Idol (which currently features famous singers Lionel Richie, Katy Perry, and Luke Bryan as its judges) will air on ABC on Sunday, May 1 at 8 pm ET or 5 pm PT.

The Top 10 Americal Idol contestants are going to be performing several Disney songs from a wide range of Disney films, including both classic Disney or Pixar songs and original music from more modern Disney movies and soundtracks.

Disney darling Derek Hough (the actor and singer who became best known for his dancing on Dancing with the Stars and who recently opened for the Oscars with his sister Julianne Hough in a TV special) will apparently serve as a mentor for the Top 10 American Idol contestants. Hough will be based in Disneyland Resort as he mentors the contestants — and since Derek Hough has worked with Disney many times, he knows what he’s talking about!

Some classic Disney songs are first on the list! Christian Guardino will perform “Circle of Life” from the 1994 movie The Lion King, and Nicolina Bozzo will perform Ursula’s Disney villain song “Poor Unfortunate Souls” from the 1989 movie The Little Mermaid!

Emotional ballads will be bringing tears to viewers’ eyes on Sunday night, too! Emyrson Flora will sing “Carried Me with You” from the 2020 movie Onward and Mike Parker will sing “You’ll Be in My Heart” from the 1999 movie Tarzan, while Jay Copeland will perform “Remember Me” from 2017’s Coco (just in case you weren’t already crying).

Two Pixar songs will also be performed: one will be “When She Loved Me” from 1999’s Toy Story 2, sung by Leah Marlene, and the other will be  “You’ve Got a Friend in Me” from the 1995 movie Toy Story (sung by Noah Thompson).

Power ballads from Disney movies will also be taking center stage, and so will some romantic musical numbers! Fritz Hager will wow audiences with “Go the Distance” from the 1997 film Hercules while Lady K belts out “How Far I’ll Go” from the 2016 animated film Moana. Meanwhile, HunterGirl will bring out the romantic side of Disney by performing “I See the Light” from the 2010 animated movie Tangled.

If you can’t watch Disney Night, don’t worry; the episode will be on Hulu the next day! Since the Encanto song “We Don’t Talk About Bruno” is also being performed, you won’t want to miss it!
