Daredevil: Born Again is entering a bold new chapter—one defined by legacy, reinvention, and the power of storytelling on the small screen. With Disney+ doubling down on serialized narratives, the Marvel Studios series has now revealed a major character change that sets the tone for its upcoming second season.
Originally announced at San Diego Comic-Con 2022, Marvel chief Kevin Feige promised an 18-episode series that would bring Daredevil back into the spotlight. But not long after, Disney executed a creative overhaul—removing Matt Corman and Chris Ord along with the original crew. Dario Scardapane was brought in as showrunner, a striking move for Marvel, which typically structured its projects more like films than traditional TV series.
Brad Winderbaum, Marvel’s Head of Streaming, Television and Animation, commented on the switch, explaining how the studio intended to follow a more traditional TV model of using showrunners.
When Daredevil: Born Again premiered in March 2025, the nine-episode arc was both a spiritual successor to the Netflix version and a soft reboot for the character. Charlie Cox returned as Matt Murdock alongside Vincent D’Onofrio as Kingpin. Familiar faces like Deborah Ann Woll (Karen Page), Elden Henson (Foggy Nelson), Jon Bernthal (Punisher), and Ayelet Zurer (Vanessa Fisk) also made their return.
New additions included Margarita Levieva (Heather Glenn), Michael Gandolfini (Daniel Blake), and Kamar de los Reyes in his final role as Hector Ayala/White Tiger. The actor passed away in December 2023, making his performance a poignant farewell.
Ayala’s arc ended in tragedy, but the White Tiger story isn’t over. In a major reveal, the show has confirmed that the mantle will now be taken up by Angela Del Toro, Ayala’s niece, mirroring the Marvel Comics.
Set photos have confirmed that Camila Rodriguez will portray Angela Del Toro, officially becoming the next White Tiger in Daredevil: Born Again.
This development marks a significant first for Disney+’s Marvel content. Although the big-screen MCU has passed mantles—Captain America from Steve Rogers to Sam Wilson, Hawkeye to Kate Bishop—Daredevil: Born Again is the first time a superhero identity has changed hands solely within a streaming series, as noted by The Direct.
With Season 2 already filming and a March 2026 premiere date locked in, fans are now eager to see how Angela will carry on her uncle’s legacy and where her journey fits into the larger MCU.
This evolution is also a sign of Marvel’s deepening commitment to character-driven storytelling on Disney+. By embracing traditional TV mechanics—including the use of showrunners and serialized arcs—Marvel seems poised to make its streaming series more cohesive and long-lasting. The decision to pass the White Tiger mantle within the Disney+ format alone reflects this fresh direction.
The second season of Daredevil: Born Again will consist of eight episodes and officially be part of Marvel’s Phase Six. That phase kicks off in July with The Fantastic Four: First Steps (2025), and will also see the return of Krysten Ritter as Jessica Jones in Daredevil’s second season.
There’s been plenty of speculation about Charlie Cox’s Daredevil appearing in future MCU tentpoles like Avengers: Doomsday (2026) or Avengers: Secret Wars (2027). However, Cox’s absence from the viral Doomsday cast announcement raised eyebrows. According to the actor, he doesn’t think he’s part of the lineup.
