On October 25, Zachery Ty Bryan, a former star of the popular ABC sitcom Home Improvement, was arrested by officers from the Custer County Sheriff’s Department on suspicion of driving under the influence.
This incident marks Bryan’s second DUI arrest in the year, indicating a troubling trend in his behavior. The arrest occurred in the early hours when a Custer County officer noticed a Range Rover parked on the side of the road. Upon investigating, the officer found Bryan asleep in the back seat. Shortly thereafter, Bryan resumed driving the vehicle, which prompted a traffic stop by law enforcement.

During the encounter, Bryan admitted to the officer that he had been drinking, revealing a concerning level of intoxication. The officer’s observations led to a series of sobriety tests, all of which Bryan reportedly failed. He subsequently refused to take a breathalyzer test.
Released dash cam footage from the arrest revealed an unapologetic attitude from Bryan during the incident. He was quoted stating, “I’m sorry I like to drink,” while in the back of the police vehicle.
The arresting officer, Trooper Kendrick Johnson, maintained a focus on public safety, emphasizing the risks associated with Bryan’s intoxicated state.
“You have zero judgment from me. Here’s the deal, I got you for driving under the influence. It’s a safety deal. If we were just to leave you there and we’re not going to know if you’re going to stay there or drive away. Like you’ve said yourself, you’re not safe to drive, but we deal with public safety.”

In addition to his driving violations, Bryan has faced serious allegations of domestic violence. In July 2023, he was involved in a domestic dispute that led to his arrest on multiple assault charges, indicating a pattern of troubling behavior.
Previously, in 2020, he pleaded guilty to domestic violence charges after an altercation involving a former partner where he was accused of strangulation.
