Dinoland’s Era Ends as Disney World Starts Transformation

Disney has officially begun the transformation of Animal Kingdom’s Dinoland USA into a brand-new land inspired by the Tropical Americas. This marks the end of an era for the dinosaur-themed section of the park, which will close in phases beginning January 13, 2025. The move comes as Disney aims to revitalize the park with fresh attractions that reflect modern storytelling and guest expectations.

The new Tropical Americas land will feature an Encanto-themed attraction, inviting guests to step into the magical Casita and experience the wonder of the Madrigal family. This interactive and visually stunning addition is expected to be a focal point of the new area. Guests can also look forward to a unique Indiana Jones experience, which will take them on thrilling adventures through lush jungles and ancient ruins. Disney promises this attraction will stand out from other Indiana Jones rides around the world, offering something completely new.

Visible changes to Dinoland have already begun. The Disney Vacation Club kiosk, previously located near the caricature booth, has been removed, signaling the start of the transformation. While iconic attractions like TriceraTop Spin and Chester & Hester’s Dinosaur Treasures will close permanently in January, other areas, such as the Boneyard and Restaurantosaurus, will remain open for now. Guests hoping to enjoy these nostalgic spots should plan their visits soon.

It will feature intricate architecture, lush greenery, and cascading waterfalls, bringing the tropics to life. Families will also enjoy a colorful new carousel, which draws inspiration from the wildlife and traditions of the region.
