Disneyland Suddenly Closes Popular Avengers Campus Area in California

Disneyland Resort has closed a major walkway between Avengers Campus and Cars Land at Disney California Adventure Park. The closure, a step toward preparing for new construction, will impact guest access in the area through at least summer 2026.

The new construction comes as part of the ongoing DisneylandForward expansion plan, which is still years away from completion. While DisneylandForward will introduce major additions like a new Avatar (2009) area and a Coco (2017) ride, the project affecting Avengers Campus precedes this larger initiative. Work for this specific construction project actually began last year when Walt Disney Imagineering filed permits, with the official construction start date expected in 2025.

The expansion of Avengers Campus will roughly double its size. The plans include two new attractions: Avengers: Infinity Defense and Stark Flight Lab. Avengers: Infinity Defense will take guests on a Multiverse journey, allowing them to visit iconic Marvel locations such as Wakanda, Asgard, and New York City. Robert Downey Jr. will reprise his role as Tony Stark/Iron Man, guiding visitors through a battle against the villainous King Thanos, who is using Multiverse technology to travel between dimensions.

In Stark Flight Lab, guests will experience a high-tech attraction, piloting two-person pods controlled by robotic arms as they soar through various Marvel cinematic worlds.

On Sunday, Disneyland Resort announced one of the first direct guest impacts from the ongoing Avengers Campus construction. According to theme park journalist Scott Gustin, via X (formerly known as Twitter), the walkway between Avengers Campus and Cars Land will be closed starting Tuesday, April 29. Gustin shared that the walkway is expected to remain closed through at least the summer of 2026.

“NEW: The walkway between Avengers Campus and Cars Land at DCA will be closed beginning Tuesday, April 29,” Gustin wrote. “The walkway is expected to remain closed until next summer while crews build a new restroom facility and other construction continues on the Avengers Campus expansion.”

Despite the walkway’s closure, guests can still access both Avengers Campus and Cars Land via alternate routes. Disney Park visitors can use the Disneyland Resort app to find GPS-driven directions to help them navigate around closures during their visit.
