Another piece of an original Twilight Zone Tower of Terror has been quietly removed—and Disney fans are taking notice.
Over the past few weeks, Disneyland Paris Resort has rolled out multiple changes to its version of the iconic drop tower attraction. The latest update involves a partial demolition at the base of the building, with construction walls now surrounding the former FastPass+ distribution kiosk attached to the Tower of Terror structure in Walt Disney Studios Park.
The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror has seen several iterations since it first debuted at Disney-MGM Studios—now Disney’s Hollywood Studios—at Walt Disney World Resort in 1994. The attraction later opened at Disneyland Resort in 2004, Tokyo DisneySea in 2006, and Disneyland Paris Resort in 2007. Disneyland Resort rethemed its version to Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT! in 2017.
In 2019, Disneyland Paris Resort also updated its drop tower attraction to the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror – A New Dimension of Chills, including three separate storylines: The Malevolent Machine, The Shaft Creatures, and The 5th Dimension. But despite keeping the core theming intact, changes to the attraction haven’t stopped there.
Just weeks ago, Disneyland Paris quietly replaced the vintage curved television in the library pre-show room with a modern flatscreen. The update may have been intended to simplify maintenance, but it sparked backlash among Disney Parks fans who were frustrated to see a piece of the attraction’s nostalgic charm removed.
Now, demolition work has begun on part of the Tower of Terror’s exterior. Social media user @DLPReport shared an image from the site, showing the top of the old FastPass+ kiosk building removed and construction walls blocking off the area. The space is reportedly being converted into a new merchandise shop.
“🔧 At Tower of Terror, the top of the former FastPass distribution kiosk has been shaved off as it gets modified to become a shop,” @DLPReport posted. “What is it with slicing off buildings?”

Construction on the gift shop began last month, with an opening expected later this year. Disneyland Paris Resort has not confirmed an exact date.
