A Disney Park guest recently defied clear signage and scaled the iconic Mayan pyramid in the Mexico Pavilion in the EPCOT World Showcase. The unauthorized climb was caught on camera and quickly shared on social media.

The incident was first shared by Instagram user @disneygram2020, who filmed the woman perched atop one of the lower archways of the Mayan-style structure. In the video, a guest approaches two custodial cast members and silently gestures toward the pyramid. The cast members turn to find the woman already seated on the edge of the structure, several feet above the ground.

The footage cuts to a moment later when a man helps the woman descend as she laughs, seemingly unfazed by the situation or the presence of nearby cast members. Notably, a large “no climbing” sign is visible just feet from where she had climbed, which Walt Disney World Resort installed after previous incidents involving other guests scaling the same structure.

While the woman appeared uninjured, Walt Disney World Resort’s rules are in place for a reason. The EPCOT World Showcase Mexico Pavilion pyramid was never intended to be climbed and poses risks both for Disney Park guests and the cast members responsible for addressing these incidents. It remains unclear whether the guest faced any formal consequences, though Walt Disney World Resort has previously issued bans for similar behavior.

This isn’t the first time someone has climbed the pyramid in Mexico. Over the years, both adults and children have ignored warnings and scaled the structure, sometimes in pursuit of a viral moment or sheer drunken stupor. This growing trend has drawn criticism from longtime Disney Parks fans and reignited conversations about EPCOT’s “Drinking Around the World” culture. Some have argued that the rise in alcohol-related offerings has contributed to a shift in park atmosphere, especially around the World Showcase.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported during this latest incident. Still, it serves as a reminder that Disney Parks are family-friendly environments with strict guidelines in place to ensure safety for everyone.
