Any Walt Disney World Resort or Disneyland Resort guest can take a look at a Disney character performer, sweating in their thick costumes and smiling despite harassment from guests, and can presumably realize that theirs is not an easy job.
Cast members and Disney character performers must deal with many challenges while staying in character, even if said challenges involve threats to Disney magic!
The Challenges of Being a Disney Character Actor
Fur characters — i.e. characters like Winnie the Pooh or the Beast who are portrayed by character performers — have to contend with their own special set of obstacles when it comes to wardrobe. After all, a face character like a Disney princess might have to make sure that lecherous guests don’t try to untie her dress during a character meet-and-greet, but fur characters also have to worry about very obvious errors like the loss of their heads!
One Disney guest just spotted a character performer dealing with a similar issue while portraying the Moana (2016) character Maui in the “Magic Happens” parade at Disneyland Resort.
The performer’s issue was not one as severe as the loss of a fake head, and cannot really be considered a wardrobe malfunction, but Disney’s costumers might feel pangs of regret after seeing the footage in the TikTok video shown below from @imthecatalyst!
@imthecatalyst Maui out here full cheeks out! 🤣🤣 #maui #moana #disneytok #distok #disneyland #magichappens #parade #magichappenaparade #disneyparks #disneyadult
The TikTok user and Disneyland guest shows footage of Maui on a Disney parade float, happily waving to onlookers and wearing his trademark leaf skirt. However, @imthecatalyst then proceeds to zoom in on Maui’s posterior, showing a clear view of Maui’s thong underwear.
Maui’s Secret?
Even though wearing underwear is reasonable, and it makes sense that Disney costumers would be eager to avoid any up-skirt scandals, TikTok users found the view of Maui’s underwear to be humorous.
Maui’s thong underwear was compared to Victoria’s Secret lingerie, and the original poster declared that Maui was showing his “full cheeks.”
Do you think that it makes sense for fur characters to wear underwear, if they are wearing a skirt and being positioned high above guests in a Disney parade? Tell us in the comments below!
