Picking up the MCU’s story in the wake of WandaVision, Loki, and Spider-Man: No Way Home, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness brings Marvel fans even deeper into the Multiverse and the chaos–and special cameos–waiting within.
Directed by Sam Raimi, this film takes a much darker turn than the feature films that came before and offered a spectacle that truly borders on the horrific.

While other feature films under the Disney umbrella, like Turning Red and Chip’ n Dale: Rescue Rangers, were delegated to a Disney+ release, Doctor Strange 2 had an exclusively-theatrical release and was able to generate over $800 million despite having the Chinese and Russian markets completely closed off.Â
Disney described the latest installment of the MCU in a press release, which reads as the following:
In Marvel Studios’ “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness,” the MCU unlocks the Multiverse and pushes its boundaries further than ever before. Journey into the unknown with Dr. Stephen Strange, who, with the help of mystical allies both old and new, traverses the mind-bending and dangerous alternate realities of the Multiverse to confront a mysterious new adversary.
“Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness” stars Benedict Cumberbatch, Elizabeth Olsen, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Benedict Wong, Xochitl Gomez, with Michael Stühlbarg, and Rachel McAdams.
The film is directed by Sam Raimi, and Kevin Feige is the producer. Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Eric Hauserman Carroll, Scott Derrickson and Jamie Christopher serve as executive producers. The screenplay was written by Michael Waldron. “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness” released in U.S. theaters on May 6, 2022.
