Disney guests planning a tropical beach day next week may want to rethink their drink orders.
Disney Cruise Line has spent years expanding its adult offerings across the fleet. Modern ships now feature cocktail lounges, whiskey tastings, champagne bars, and adults-only nightlife districts designed to compete with rival cruise brands increasingly targeting luxury travelers.

That strategy has become especially visible on newer vessels. The Disney Wish introduced venues like The Rose and Nightingaleās, while Disney Treasure has leaned even further into themed bar experiences inspired by attractions like Haunted Mansion.
But thousands of Disney passengers sailing through The Bahamas next week are about to encounter something far less common on a cruise vacation ā a temporary daytime alcohol ban.
Bahamas Election To Impact Disney Cruise Guests
The Bahamas is imposing a nationwide restriction on alcohol sales during its upcoming general election.
The temporary ban will run from 8 a.m. until 6 p.m. local time on Tuesday, May 12, while polling stations remain open across the country. The restriction applies to the sale of āintoxicating liquor.ā

That creates an unusual complication for cruise passengers visiting private island destinations throughout The Bahamas.
Disney Cruise Line operates both Castaway Cay and Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point under Bahamian law, meaning the restriction is expected to affect alcohol sales ashore at both destinations despite their Disney branding.
Current itineraries show the Disney Wish scheduled to visit Castaway Cay on May 12. The Disney Fantasy is also expected to dock at Lookout Cay the same day.

Passengers visiting the islands during voting hours may therefore find bars and drink stations temporarily unable to serve alcohol throughout most of the day.
Other major cruise companies are expected to face similar disruptions. Royal Caribbean, Carnival Cruise Line, Norwegian Cruise Line, and MSC Cruises all operate Bahamian itineraries that could be affected during the election restriction.
Royal Caribbean has already confirmed compliance with the local regulations, noting that the alcohol ban only applies to sales ashore rather than onboard its ships.
Disney Cruise Line has not publicly commented on the restriction.
Disney Still Carefully Controls Alcohol Consumption
Despite alcohol becoming far more visible across Disney experiences, the company still maintains strict limits in several locations.
At Ogaās Cantina inside Disneyās Hollywood Studios, guests are generally restricted to two alcoholic beverages during their visit. Disney also enforces limited visit windows inside the Star Wars-themed bar due to demand.

Magic Kingdom has adopted similar rules at The Beak and Barrel, the Pirates of the Caribbean tavern operating inside the park. Most guests are limited to two drinks and roughly 45 minutes inside the venue.
Disneyland Paris has also quietly tightened some alcohol policies. Guests dining at Captain Jackās ā Restaurant des Pirates have reported being unable to purchase alcoholic beverages without ordering food alongside them.
Cruise ships, however, have typically remained one of Disneyās least restrictive environments for alcohol consumption.
