Travel and Leisure just released its lists of the “World’s Best” for 2022, and, in matters of cruising, Disney Cruise Line finds itself at the top of a very prestigious list.

Scoring the most magical ships to sail the seven seas 89.55/100 T+L declared Disney Cruise Line the World’s Best Large-ship Ocean Cruise Line for 2022. That is Cruise Lines featuring ships with 800 – 1,499 cabins on board.

On Disney Cruise Line, T+L states:

There’s nothing like watching a child’s eyes light up when they meet Mickey and Minnie, or Elsa from Frozen, or Spider-Man. But the amusement-park-level attractions, carefully orchestrated kids’ programming, entertainment, and family dining on Disney ships are also big wows. Perhaps most noteworthy, though, is that these ships manage to cater to both families with kids and adults sans kids. Grown-ups get separate hangout spots such as an adults-only nightlife area, pool, and specialty dining venues.

Disney Cruise Line takes the prize from reputable high-end competitors. Royal Caribbean, the operator of the world’s largest cruise ship, took 5th place. Holland America Line took 4th place. Celebrity Cruises (owned by Royal Caribbean) took 3rd with its state-of-the-art next-generation ships, the Celebrity Edge, Apex, and Beyond. The venerable British Cruise Line Cunard, whose ships and legacy arguably served as the inspiration for Disney Cruise Line’s ship designs, is sailing home with the silver medal.

Every “World’s Best” list is decided upon by a survey completed by T+L readers, allowing them to share their first-hand experiences and opinions on the top travel experiences around the world. According to T+L, “Readers rated individual cruise ships on their cabins and facilities, food, service, itineraries and destinations, excursions and activities, and value.” the survey was also adjusted so as to “reflect changes in the industry and travelers’ experiences.”

This is not the first time Disney Cruise Line has been awarded for its experience, and there is no doubt in this reporter’s mind that it will be the last. Its commendation comes just two days before its latest and grandest ship, the Disney Wish, is set to make its maiden voyage from Port Canaveral to The Bahamas and Disney’s private island oasis Castaway Cay.
