Meeting Disney characters has long been a staple of the Walt Disney World experience. Whether it's a warm hug at a table-service restaurant, a cheerful wave from a parade float, or a royal greeting inside Princess Fairytale Hall, character encounters are sprinkled throughout the resort’s four theme parks.
But finding these memorable moments—especially the ones in open-air or more remote areas—can sometimes be tricky. To help guests spot these appearances more easily, Disney is testing a new approach. At Disney’s Animal Kingdom, cast members have started using handheld character signs to identify where meet-and-greet lines begin and end.

Photos shared by WDWNT show the signs currently being used at Animal Kingdom for Donald Duck and Pocahontas. According to the report, it’s unclear whether this system will extend to other parks like Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, or Disney’s Hollywood Studios, but cast members are assisting guests in real time as they explore this new system.
Though it may be a subtle tweak, small updates like this can greatly enhance the overall guest experience. Walt Disney World is vast, and with so much to see and do, it’s easy for more hidden or temporary experiences to slip through the cracks. These clear, visual cues may help guests navigate character interactions more efficiently—and ensure they don’t miss the magic.

Meanwhile, over on the West Coast, character magic is taking a different form altogether. In honor of Disneyland’s 70th anniversary, guests at Disneyland Resort can now visit the Main Street Opera House for Walt Disney—A Magical Life, featuring a lifelike animatronic of Walt Disney himself. This remarkable figure offers a moving and interactive glimpse into Walt’s legacy, making it a must-see for fans of Disney history.
