One Disney theme park failed to open to guests this morning.
From Anaheim to Tokyo, Disney’s theme park resorts worldwide are known for their immersive experiences and top-tier service. However, that doesn’t mean that things don’t go wrong from time to time – especially when nature intervenes.
We’ve witnessed this far too often in 2024. Hurricanes Milton and Helene have wreaked havoc on Florida, consequently impacting operations at Walt Disney World Resort. Experts are now keeping a close eye on Storm Sara, which is currently forming in the Caribbean.
Meanwhile, Tokyo Disney Resort, Shanghai Disneyland, and Hong Kong Disneyland have all been forced to change their operating hours—or close completely—due to tropical storms.
Unfortunately, this is once again the case today as Tropical Cyclone Toraji forces a postponed opening at Hong Kong Disneyland.
The park opened at 11.30 a.m. HKT this morning, and an update on its website warned guests of continued disruptions due to strong winds.
Inclement Weather Arrangement
The park will open with limited operations at around 11:30 AM upon typhoon signal lowering to Strong Wind Signal No. 3. Outdoor attractions will be suspended under Signal No. 3.
Inspiration Lake Recreation Centre will open at around 11:30 AM.

The park was originally scheduled to open at 10 a.m. but remained closed for the safety of guests and cast members after the storm warning was temporarily raised to Typhoon Signal 8 (T8). It will still close at 8:30 p.m. as planned.
This follows park-wide disruptions yesterday that forced the closure of its outdoor attractions. With Strong Wind Signal No. 3 still in effect, outdoor rides—such as Wandering Oaken’s Sliding Sleighs, Big Grizzly Mountain Runaway Mine Cars (the park’s equivalent of Big Thunder Mountain Railroad), and Jungle River Cruise—remain closed.
That leaves only a handful of rides in operation right now. In fact, at the time of writing, only seven rides listed wait times on the Hong Kong Disneyland app: Ant-Man and The Wasp: Nano Battle!, Frozen Ever After, Hyperspace Mountain, Iron Man Experience, “it’s a small world,” The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, and Mystic Manor.
Yesterday marked the second time in less than a week that Hong Kong was placed under a storm warning. On November 9, Super Typhoon Yinxing also sparked a No. 3 warning signal and closed 13 attractions at Hong Kong Disneyland – a park that has notoriously struggled with attendance levels and profit over the years. November typically marks the end of Hong Kong’s typhoon season.
