Disney Fairy Tale Weddings Reveals Which Wedding Trends Are Coming in 2022

The first big trend in weddings this year is “epic destinations”. Even if budgets, guest lists, and an ongoing pandemic keep engaged couples from traveling far afield for an exotic destination wedding, Disney is still predicting that brides and grooms will “seek out immersive and jaw-dropping backdrops for their wedding ceremonies”. These days weddings are not just about getting married; they're also about “opportunities to celebrate and create memories with…friends and family”. 

Apparently, the Ever After blog is also predicting that “themed parties” are going to stay strong as a wedding trend in 2022. Some couples might choose to have a Disney theme for their wedding, or to have a theme inspired by a certain Disney movie or Disney character, but more understated themes like “Old Hollywood“, “an all-white party”, or a “Main Street, U.S.A. theme” might also be popular.

 

Interesting enough, it's expected that weddings are going to become drastically more colorful in 2022! Disney Weddings' blog post said that “we expect couples to lean away from more muted color palettes and choose to add vibrant pops of color within their wedding color scheme”.

 

Since destination weddings and extended celebrations are some top wedding trends as 2022 begins, it's fitting that “interactive wedding entertainment” is also growing in popularity! Couples want vendors that will entertain their guests and keep the party going well into the night. “Magicians, caricature artists, [and] roaming violinists” are just some of the highlights that the Ever After blog expects from this burgeoning trend.

Even though it might seem like a destination wedding with lots of live entertainment, an exotic backdrop, and a signature wedding theme could start to feel impersonal, Disney Weddings has also predicted that couples are going to choose to embrace sentimentality and personality when it comes to the food at their weddings!

“Personalized wedding menus” that are crafted around the engaged couple's “love story” are a wedding element that Disney is bracing itself for. With a personal menu, couples will be able to incorporate “their favorite Disney Park snack”, family recipes, “or a special cocktail that reminds them of a date they went on”. We've already seen how some couples choose to show off their hobbies or backstory in their weddings, and now food is the medium for that storytelling!
