Being a Disney Cast Member is no easy task. From the rigorous training that Cast Members have to undergo to putting fires (both literal and metaphorical), there’s a lot they have to handle. Any Disney Fanatic can agree that the Cast Members are the heart of the Disney experience. From face characters and the meet ‘n’ greets to keeping the Park running, Cast Members keep things working smoothly at the Parks.
Recently, some Guests took to Reddit to share a strange rumor circulating on the internet. Disney Guest and Reddit user u/dr3w_be4r took to the social media platform to ask if Disney was “Firing Cast Members for Being TOO Good.”
I heard a rumor that Disney would rather let go of excellent character cast members rather than keep them or move them up the ladder. The example was, if someone is a great Cinderella, Disney would be worried guests would be coming to see that cast member, which no longer prioritizes the company as a whole.
Guests immediately denounced the possibility. One former Cast Member shared, “I was a CM and my wife was face. Never heard of such a thing. The original opening Snow White for WDW still works in face.”
Another Guest chimed in on the example the former Cast Member provided, adding, “She’s been bumped up to Fairy Godmother now.”
Another Guest shared, “This has to be one of the BS things I’ve heard. Face character positions are a highly fought for position. I’d be more worried about other people trying to get you fired.”
We also spoke to other former Cast Members who shared,
As for the American parks, I have heard this rumor before specifically about the super popular disneyland peter pan back in like 2013 but never actually confirmed it, nor did i ever witness it being a thing during my time in entertainment.
The Cast Member was referring to the Peter Pan Cast Member, who became incredibly popular back in the day and ended up either leaving or being asked to leave because of how popular this particular Cast Member became.
From our fact-check, this rumor seems incredibly unlikely, and fans can rest assured that Cast Members who make the Disney magic every day are rewarded for their work rather than penalized for it.
