There’s no place quite like the Disney Parks for a magical escape from reality.

Whether you’re strolling through the enchanting lands of Magic Kingdom, exploring the worlds of EPCOT, or embarking on thrilling adventures in Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Animal Kingdom, a visit to Disney should be about joy, wonder, and making memories. Unfortunately, a few unruly Disney guests have been making headlines recently, and it’s high time we discuss how to restore some common courtesy to these magical places.

Why Disney Parks Are Seeing Increased Poor Behavior

The Disney Parks are known for their commitment to creating a magical experience for all visitors, but lately, it seems that some guests are forgetting their manners. From rude interactions with Cast Members to outright disruptive behavior, there’s been an alarming rise in incidents that mar the Disney experience.

In the past year, we’ve seen reports of everything from drunken antics to fights breaking out across the parks. A recent incident involved a guest at Disney World leaving a mess in line for the Rise of the Resistance ride. The Reddit user who shared the story described a shocking scene: “Someone let their kid take a dump on the floor and then just walked out. Seriously, WTF?”

Such stories are sadly not isolated. Other guests have been reported using foul language around children, cutting in line, and even attempting to scatter ashes at the Haunted Mansion—an act strictly prohibited by Disney.

The Impact of Intoxication at Disney Parks

EPCOT, known for its World Showcase and abundant alcohol options, has seen a rise in intoxicated guests causing trouble.

While it’s perfectly fine to enjoy a drink or two, the increase in unruly behavior—like jumping off rides or demanding special treatment—has become problematic. It’s important for guests to drink responsibly and remain courteous, as Disney Parks are meant to be enjoyable for everyone, not just those who can handle their alcohol well.

Rules and Regulations: What You Need to Know

Disney Parks have strict rules in place to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all. Here’s a quick rundown of some essential rules:

  • Prohibited Items: Guns, weapons, large strollers, selfie sticks, and folding chairs are not allowed inside the parks. Security checks are conducted to ensure safety.
  • No Line-Cutting: If you’re caught cutting in line, expect to be escorted out. This includes pretending to be part of a party with a Disability Access Service (DAS) pass.
  • No Littering or Flash Photography: There are trash cans placed conveniently around the parks—please use them. Flash photography disrupts the experience for everyone, so avoid it on dark rides.
  • Smoking and Vaping: Smoking and vaping are only allowed in designated areas outside the parks.

The Case for a Disney Etiquette School

Imagine if Disney implemented a brief “etiquette school” as part of the ticket purchase process. A mandatory section on the My Disney Experience app could educate guests on proper behavior and park rules. This could help reduce the number of incidents caused by ignorance or disregard for common courtesy.

Such a program could cover essential points like treating Cast Members with respect, understanding that rides break down occasionally, and recognizing that Disney cannot provide free perks beyond what is advertised.

The Power of Courtesy and Respect

At its heart, a Disney visit should be about joy, magic, and shared experiences. When guests forget their manners, it affects everyone—fellow visitors and hardworking Cast Members alike. Common courtesy can make a world of difference, ensuring that the magic of Disney is preserved for all.

Treating everyone with respect, following park rules, and maintaining a positive attitude contribute to a magical experience. It’s essential to remember that Disney Parks are a place where dreams come true, and maintaining good behavior ensures that everyone can enjoy the magic.

What Can We Do?

We can all play a part in restoring courtesy to Disney Parks. As guests, we should:

  1. Be Mindful of Others: Remember that you’re sharing the park with thousands of others. Keep noise levels down, respect personal space, and avoid disruptive behavior.
  2. Follow Park Rules: Abide by all rules and regulations to ensure a smooth experience for everyone.
  3. Treat Cast Members with Respect: These individuals work hard to make your experience magical. A little kindness goes a long way.
