Disney Cruise Line is making waves in Texas as it expands its operations in Galveston, signaling a significant move that Disney Parks fans and cruise lovers alike won’t want to miss. The company, which first set sail out of the Lone Star State in 2012, is officially promoting sailings from Galveston, Texas, amid reports that it will expand its operations there by 2027.
For over ten years, the Galveston port has been a seasonal home for ships like the Disney Magic and Disney Wonder, offering limited Caribbean and Bahamas sailings at select times of the year. But Disney Cruise Line is ramping things up, with rumors swirling that the line will start operating full-time from Galveston as soon as 2027, according to reports from the Galveston County Daily News. The move comes as Disney continues to expand its fleet and looks to relieve some of the congestion at Florida ports.
The new sailing options come alongside Disney Cruise Line’s rapidly expanding fleet, which recently added the Disney Treasure to its ranks. The company has also announced upcoming ships like the Disney Adventure and Disney Destiny, as well as five yet-to-be-named vessels expected to debut by 2031. As more ships enter the water, Disney Cruise Line appears to be focusing on expanding its presence in Texas, potentially with full-time operations in Galveston.
On Tuesday, Disney Cruise Line sent out a marketing email to its fans, inviting them to book a sailing from Galveston. The email began with a playful tease: “Something’s sailing into Texas…,” before continuing with an invitation to enjoy the magic of Disney closer to home.
“Let the magic come to you in Galveston, Texas! What if you could take a moment and relax for a little bit? Just sit back and have some fun? Well, now it’s possible because the magic of Disney is closer than you imagine. Disney Cruise Line is sailing from Galveston, Texas to give you an enchanting vacation that’s just a short journey away,” the email reads.
Although the marketing email does not mention the possibility of Disney Cruise Line sailing full-time from Galveston starting in 2027, the line’s website still lists Texas sailings as ”available for a limited time only.” Current offerings include trips to Cozumel, Mexico, Progreso, Mexico, and Grand Cayman Island. Voyages range from four to seven nights, and guests can choose from themed experiences like the Very Merrytime Cruises and Marvel Day at Sea.
