One of Disney’s coziest hotel hideaways is about to close to all guests.
Redwood Bar has long been one of the defining spaces inside Disney Sequoia Lodge. Built around the hotel’s wilderness theme, it offers deep chairs, dark wood, and a large open fireplace that makes it particularly popular during the colder months.
The adjoining Northwest Passage shop is another familiar part of a stay at the hotel. Together, the two locations sit at the heart of Sequoia Lodge’s main building — and both are now being caught up in Disney’s large-scale renovation project.
Disney Sets Final Date for Redwood Bar
Disney has confirmed that Redwood Bar and Northwest Passage will temporarily close from February 19, 2027.
Guests have until that date to visit the bar and shop before both become unavailable. Disney has also said that some additional hotel services will close on the same day, although it has not identified them.

The closures are temporary, but Disney has not announced when either location will reopen. It is also unclear whether Redwood Bar and Northwest Passage will return at the same time.
Disney has yet to reveal how extensively the two spaces will be changed. The hotel’s wider refurbishment is updating almost every major guest area, meaning Redwood Bar could receive more than a simple cosmetic refresh.
Any major alteration to the fireplace area may prove sensitive among regular guests. The bar’s warm, secluded atmosphere is part of its appeal and helps distinguish it from more modern lounges elsewhere at Disneyland Paris.
The hotel’s new guest rooms suggest Disney is trying to avoid removing that identity entirely.
“It appears they have not ruined the nature look and feel!” one X user wrote. “Thank god! Not too much gold or bronze!”
Another said, “Finally no more old ass bath tub.”
Sequoia Lodge Enters Its Next Refurbishment Phase
Disney began work on Sequoia Lodge in January 2026, initially focusing on rooms inside the property’s five outer buildings.
The first completed rooms are expected to welcome guests in early 2027. Disney confirmed that reservations for the refurbished accommodation will open in September 2026.

The new rooms take inspiration from Bambi (1942), Pocahontas (1995), and Brave (2012). They feature brighter interiors and updated furniture while retaining the woodland details associated with the hotel.
Bathrooms have also been changed. The redesigned rooms remove the bathtubs traditionally found in many Disneyland Paris hotels and replace them with showers.
Those updates are intended to address long-running criticism of Sequoia Lodge’s aging rooms and bathrooms. The 1,010-room hotel currently holds a 2.8-star rating on Yelp, placing it among Disney’s lowest-rated hotels.
Its rating is also below some of Disneyland Paris’ cheaper accommodation, including Disney Hotel Santa Fe.
Sequoia Lodge opened in 1992 and was designed to resemble the grand wilderness lodges found around American national parks. Its timber-heavy interiors and lakeside setting have remained largely unchanged, even as other Disneyland Paris hotels received significant renovations.
Disney now plans to expand the work across the remaining rooms, lobby, restaurants, recreation spaces, and retail areas. The temporary removal of Redwood Bar and Northwest Passage marks a major step into the hotel’s shared public spaces.
The project is part of a broader round of investment at Disneyland Paris.
The Pathé Cinema in Disney Village is due to receive a new exterior as part of an extensive transformation beginning this summer.
The resort also opened Disney Adventure World in March, replacing Walt Disney Studios Park. Its additions include World of Frozen, a Tangled-inspired attraction, and new restaurants.
Disney hotels in the United States are undergoing changes as well. Rooms at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge’s Jambo House are being refurbished through January 2027.
Work at Disney’s Contemporary Resort is expected to continue through late 2027, covering the atrium, Main Tower, and Bay Lake Tower.
Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort is also dealing with construction around its front entrance and the Grand Ceremonial House, which has caused disruption near Trader Sam’s Tiki Terrace.
