The Walt Disney Company has made a bold commitment to creating jobs in the United States. On Wednesday, CEO Bob Iger confirmed that the Disney parks will add 10,000 new jobs in the coming years. This promise comes alongside the company’s multi-billion-dollar expansion plans and is part of Disney’s ongoing commitment to economic growth in the U.S.
According to Disney’s official statement, the company is focused on creating jobs in the theme park sector, including new roles across various Disney parks in Florida and California. These roles are set to support the company’s promised $30 billion domestic theme park investment, including major new attractions like the Pueblo Esperanza area at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park and the Disney Villains land at Magic Kingdom Park.
In a letter shared on Disney’s website, Bob Iger emphasized the company’s ongoing efforts to contribute positively to the American economy. Iger wrote:
“Disney has stood the test of time as a constant source of happiness for families and communities, and a shining example of innovation and imagination. That enduring cultural influence sets Disney apart as both a brand and business, which is a privilege we take seriously. That’s why we’ve always believed it’s important to be one of the world’s most admired companies — not only for what we create, but for the positive impact we have.”
Along with the theme park expansion plans, Disney boasted about contributing to economic activity and employment in local communities. Iger shared that The Walt Disney Company employs 160,000 people in different sectors across all 50 states, investing in countless local communities.
Iger also highlighted the importance of charitable efforts and the company’s longstanding partnership with the Make-A-Wish Foundation and several children’s hospitals.
“I’m particularly proud of the ways we’re able to use the power of Disney stories to lift children’s spirits when they need it most,” Iger wrote. “…Through our longtime relationship with Make-A-Wish, Disney is the No. 1 wish-granter in the world for children facing critical illness, and we grant a child’s wish every hour of every day.”
The pledge to create 10,000 new jobs is part of Disney’s broader plan to bolster its economic and social impact across the U.S. and continue playing a central role in shaping the future of entertainment and community involvement.
“All of this ongoing work and more is part of our unwavering commitment to being a force for good in the world, especially right here in our own back yard,” Iger concluded.
