“All She Gets Is a Toilet,” Disney Fans Voice Justice for Rapunzel

All Disney fans have their favorite Disney Princess. And when they take a trip to Walt Disney World, they want to enjoy a ride based on that Disney Princess movie or get the opportunity to meet them.

The world of the Disney Princess has expanded over the past two decades and with it, Disney has expanded the attractions based on those princesses to each Disney Park.

Two of Disney’s latest princesses each got their own attraction in the newest round of renovations at Disney World. Moana’s Journey of Water recently opened at EPCOT, and this summer, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is opening at the Magic Kingdom.

But some Disney fans feel a bit left out, or at least like their favorite princess has been left out, even disrespected. While the other princesses have a meet-and-greet and ride, one princess has been disrespected at Disney World, with only a bathroom.

Rapunzel from Tangled (2010) has been left out of the expansion party at the Walt Disney World Resort, and her fans are starting to notice. While Tiana and Moana, two of the newer Disney Princesses, are getting their due, Rapunzel has been relegated to only a bathroom.

While you can regularly meet Cinderella and Princess Tiana at the Princess Fairytale Hall in the Magic Kingdom, Rapunzel has been elevated to “visiting princess” status. You can even go to Moana’s character greeting at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. And Flynn Rider can only be seen on a parade float.

It’s not just in the Disney Parks that Rapunzel is being disrespected. While Moana and Elsa and Anna from Frozen (2013) are getting sequels, there has been no talk of Flynn Rider and Rapunzel returning to the big screen.

Perhaps it is the logistics of the hair, but it is certainly not because Rapunzel is not popular. When it was released, Tangled made nearly $600 million at the box office.

Disney fans are starting to notice that one of their favorite characters is disappearing from Walt Disney World. One X (formerly Twitter) user even started the #JusticeForRapunzel campaign to raise awareness of her plight.

With the Magic Kingdom’s expansion coming soon, it seems only logical to include Rapunzel in that. Tokyo DisneySea and Disneyland Paris include rides based on Rapunzel in their latest expansion projects.

So, if the Disney Imagineers are listening, bringing Rapunzel, Flynn Rider, and the Lantern Festival to the Walt Disney World Resort is all people are asking for. Otherwise, Rapunzel may disappear from Disney World rides and attractions as if she were Mulan, but that’s another story.

And for the record, Rapunzel’s Tangled bathroom is charming.
