Another day, another Theme Park inspection for Disney’s CEO and Disney Parks Chairman.
After visiting the Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, California, the Walt Disney World Resort outside Orlando, Florida, and the Disneyland Paris Resort, Disney leaders Bob Iger and Josh D’Amaro were spotted at the Tokyo Disney Resort, observing the state of the Company’s first international Park and its 40th Anniversary Celebration.

Since returning to the CEO position, Iger has made it clear that creative focus would return to the Theme Parks around the world, taking inventory with the Chairman of Disney Parks, Experiences, and Products, Josh D’Amaro. Their previous destinations all had Imagineering at work with the start of the 100th Anniversary Celebration in Disneyland Park, the continued development of EPCOT’s revamp, and the massive expansion to Walt Disney Studios Park.
But Tokyo Disney is a different story. While Walt Disney Imagineering teams are at work in Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea with the complete reimagining of Space Mountain and the development of an eighth themed land in Tokyo DisneySea called “Fantasy Springs,” featuring Frozen, Tangled, and Peter Pan, Tokyo Disney Resort is not owned or operated by The Walt Disney Company.
Since its inception four decades ago, Tokyo Disney Resort has been owned and operated by the Oriental Land Company under intense licensing agreements with Disney. Ironically, it has been touted by many die-hard Disney fans as being the best Resort in the world. It will be interesting to see what Iger and D’Amaro take from their unique partners. Their visit to Tokyo now suggests the possibility that the two will round out their grand tour by visiting Shanghai Disney Resort in Mainland China, as well as Hong Kong Disneyland in the days to come.
We at Disney Fanatic will continue to update our readers on Disney Parks news and stories as more developments come to light.
