In September of 2022, Disney Parks chairman Josh D’Amaro stepped onto the stage at the D23 Expo and gave Disney Fanatics a peek into what they could expect coming up. But at the time, this panel fell incredibly flat because many of D’Amaro’s ideas had been blue sky—a giant “what if,” a question mark. Well, it appears that maybe some of those might be well on their way to the Disney Parks. In a recent interview, Disney Parks head Josh D’Amaro gave fans some exclusive intel on what could be coming up at Walt Disney World Resort vis-a-vis attractions.

On Monday, March 6, Mr. D’Amaro was seen filming at the Magic Kingdom, and fans immediately jumped to speculating about what this could mean for the Parks. Some hoped D’Amaro was bringing back FastPass (the free system that was replaced by the ever-controversial Disney Genie suite with Genie+ and Lightning Lane), yet others also confirmed that those who work for Disney have been hearing more and more from the Disney Parks chairman.
However, this recent interview tells us that perhaps we might be well-served to put more stock in the possibility that Mr. D’Amaro is bringing us some exciting news soon. Speaking with Orlando Business Journal, Josh D’Amaro shared that Disney Imagineers and the entire team are “incredibly ambitious about the experience here and how it will continue to grow and evolve.”
He brought up the 50th-anniversary celebrations and the “transformation of EPCOT” by Walt Disney Imagineering as examples of what Disney Imagineers can do. Mr. D’Amaro also discussed TRON: Lightcycle/Run, sharing,
“Tron is spectacular, and adding something of this size and scope to the most visited theme park in the world is pretty ambitious and incredible. You see the guests walking off that experience … the look on their faces — and it adds to the whole experience we offer here.”

Josh D’Amaro concluded that there was no end to this creativity and that “Tron is the tip of the iceberg of what’s coming” to the Disney Parks, heavily implying that there will soon be a longer, more exciting list of attractions fans will be able to enjoy. Back in September of 2022, Mr. D’Amaro had teased a Villains Land and an Encanto Land, he’d teased a complete revamp of DinoLand U.S.A., and we can’t wait.
With Tiana’s Bayou Adventure (the Splash Mountain retheme) and TRON: Lightcycle/Run already coming up, perhaps Disney’s blue sky wasn’t so blue sky after all—and we’ll eagerly await a confirmation from the Walt Disney Company for whether our speculation is, in fact, true.
