It’s time we talked about strollers at Disney World. I completely get it. You’re headed out to the Parks, and bringing kids with you isn’t easy. You need food, diapers, a change of clothes, etc., but do you? And more importantly, do you need to bring a stroller the size of a Volkswagen to carry all that stuff? Let’s get into that for a second.

As you can imagine, I spend much of my time reading Disney news and occasionally look into so-called “pro tips.” Most of them are fine; I’m sure you’ve read them. Don’t buy water in the Parks; use Disney Gift cards and things like that. But there are times when I come across these tips that just annoy me.

I have come across one that combines two of my pet peeves of Disney World travel: strollers and expecting Cast Members to do more for you than they should.

This tip deals with protecting your stroller. Apparently, people are traveling to Walt Disney World with more than $1,000 strollers. Two questions: Why? And they make strollers that expensive? So when it came time to Park the stroller in the parking area, this blogger decided to use a bike lock to secure her stroller.

Disney does not allow bike locks on strollers at the Parks. You cannot lock your stroller to a stationary object. So, instead, this tip is to wrap the lock around the stroller’s wheels so that it cannot be pushed. It seems like a fine idea until the very end. If the stroller needs to be moved, as they frequently do by Cast Members, that Cast Member can simply pick it up and move it.

So, wait. Now, instead of having the Cast Member use the stroller for its intended purpose, we want them to carry it around. Why would we ever do that to these people? It’s making more work for people who are already working hard.

Here’s a better pro tip. Get a $30 umbrella stroller and use that. No one will steal it, and it serves the same purpose. You don’t need a tiny house to transport your kids around the Magic Kingdom.

It’s a simple solution that makes everyone happy, especially that poor Cast Member you’re asking to move a flotilla around.

And while we’re on it, there must be an age limit for kids allowed to use strollers. But that’s for another article.

For now, you’re a Guest at Disney Parks, and we are all trying to achieve that perfect stay. But we don’t need to do it at the expense of a poor Cast Member at Animal Kingdom. I understand they are there to provide the best customer service, but this is too much.

Instead, the next time you’re at a Walt Disney World Theme Park, leave a cast compliment, and don’t expect them to sherpa your kid around the Parks.
