If you’re heading to Magic Kingdom for Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party this year, you might want to take a second look at your game plan—because a major area of the park just went offline, and it’s going to affect how you experience Halloween in a big way.

Without much fanfare, Disney has closed off Frontierland’s iconic riverfront section. That means no more strolling along the Rivers of America, no more Liberty Belle rides, and no more exploring Tom Sawyer Island. In their place? Construction walls. Lots of them.
Disney is making room for big additions, including a Cars-themed Piston Peak land and a brand-new Villains Land behind Big Thunder Mountain. Exciting stuff, sure—but for now, it’s all construction chaos, right in the middle of the park. And if you were hoping to watch the Boo-To-You Parade from Frontierland this year? You’re out of luck.

For years, Frontierland was a go-to spot for Halloween guests who wanted a less crowded place to catch the parade. It was quieter, had that perfect spooky backdrop, and didn’t require you to camp out for hours like Main Street U.S.A. often does. Now that it’s off the table, crowds are going to be redirected to already busy areas, meaning you can expect tighter pathways and trickier navigation all night long.
To be clear, the party is still happening—and it’s still packed with fan-favorite experiences. The fireworks, Hocus Pocus show, character meets, and mountains of candy haven’t gone anywhere. But one of the most charming corners of the park has been shuttered without much warning, and it’s going to be noticeable.

The silver lining? These projects will eventually bring something new and exciting to Magic Kingdom. But in the short term, it’s going to make this year’s Halloween event feel a little more crowded, a little less magical, and a lot more like a construction zone.
So pack your patience—and maybe a backup plan.
