Back in November, it was reported by Variety that Disney was actively working on developing an Indiana Jones series for Disney+. The announcement came as Disney was hyping up its newest film about the famed archaeologist. The film is called Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny. The film is slated to be released on June 30, 2023. When the show was announced, no details were revealed. The idea was simply floating around, and Disney was looking for writers to create a unique story for Indy.
A lot of people were excited to hear that a series could be coming to Disney+. The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles aired for two seasons on ABC, but was canceled in 1993. Then there were several made-for-tv movies telling Indy’s story. Many were hoping that Disney would create an exciting prequel series that would show how Indiana Jones came to be. We know that Harrison Ford would most likely not be a part of the show. Ford had been honest that Dial of Destiny was the last time he would portray the fedora-wearing archaeologist.
Sadly, it appears that the new Indiana Jones series is no more. Jeff Sneider — who hosts the YouTube show The Hot Mic With Jeff and Jon — tweeted that Disney has decided to cancel the series. According to Sneider, Disney wants to focus more on its Star Wars franchise.
RUMOR: The Ravenwood/Indiana Jones series at Lucasfilm is not moving forward, and furthermore, I’ve heard that Disney has told Lucasfilm to focus on STAR WARS going forward, hence the cancellation of WILLOW.

Sneider also spoke about the cancellation on his YouTube show, which you can watch below.
On March 15, Deadline Hollywood revealed that Disney had decided to cancel Willow after just one season. According to sources, Disney was reassessing its LucasFilm slate — LucasFilm created the original film — and Willow had not made the cut.
Disney is currently in the midst of continuing to expand its already vast Star Wars franchise. In addition to the films created by the company, Disney has also created a number of original Star Wars series for its streaming platform Disney+. Currently, subscribers can stream The Mandalorian, The Book of Boba Fett, Andor, Obi-Wan Kenobi, The Bad Batch, Tales of the Jedi, and more.
Disney is also working on developing four additional shows for Disney+ — Star Wars: Visions, Young Jedi Adventures, Ahsoka, and Skeleton Crew. Disney is also developing three more Star Wars movies, but we do not have any details about those films as of yet.
