Disney parks rarely stay the same for long. Restaurants, attractions, and even entire lands often shift with the times, as the company leans into new stories to keep audiences engaged. While some classics endure for decades, others quietly fade away, replaced by modern characters and experiences – as is the case at one Disney park as of today.
One of the original dining spots from Hong Kong Disneyland has officially shut its doors. The restaurant, present since the park’s opening day, has been replaced with a brand-new eatery inspired by Moana (2016).

‘Moana' Restaurant Debuts at Disney Park
The park in question is Hong Kong Disneyland, which today celebrates its 20th birthday. Its Adventureland section has lost Tahitian Terrace, an opening day fixture that has welcomed visitors with a tropical atmosphere for two decades. Now, in its place, stands Wayfinders’ Table, themed to Disney’s modern Pacific Island princess.
The new restaurant is located just steps away from Moana: A Homecoming Celebration, the live stage show that has brought Moana’s story to life at the park since 2018. Together, the two offerings give Adventureland a stronger identity tied directly to the film’s world of voyaging and exploration.

This is the latest in a long line of updates from Hong Kong Disneyland. From rides to entertainment, much of the resort’s original DNA has now been reimagined, rejuvenated, or replaced. Notably, the park only recently clawed its way back to profitability in the wake of COVID-19.
Disney has been leaning heavily into Moana across its properties. In Florida, EPCOT opened the wet-and-wild outdoor experience Journey of Water, Inspired by Moana, while international parks have integrated the character into parades and stage productions.

Wayfinders’ Table continues that expansion by tying dining directly into Moana’s narrative of connection and community. The restaurant's menu includes the likes of roasted chicken legs, prawn curry, kofta and lentil masala, and more, plus the themed dessert Explore the Ocean (which seats banana coconut fritters on a boat like that boarded by Moana in the movie).
The timing, coinciding with the park’s 20th anniversary, is no accident. Rather than relying on nostalgia, Hong Kong Disneyland is using its milestone moment to showcase evolution. Today, the park has also revealed fresh looks at upcoming attractions inspired by both Pixar Animation and Marvel Studios.
