
Thousands of international Disney guests must now undergo enhanced security screening measures before entering the park.
For years, Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Resort have enforced strict security policies, especially following the 9/11 attacks. Guests have long been required to pass through metal detectors before entering the Disney parks, and while bag checks have largely been eliminated due to advanced screening technology, Disney cast members still inspect strollers, mobility devices, and any flagged bags.
While these measures are routine in the United States, some international Disney Park guests are encountering them for the first time. On Thursday, March 13, Hong Kong Disneyland Resort guests were met with newly installed metal detectors at the park entrance.
New Disney Security Measures
According to @hkdisneyreport on Instagram, Hong Kong Disneyland Resort has officially implemented metal detectors as part of an “enhanced security screening procedure.” The account shared photos of Disney security cast members directing guests through the new process, stating:

On X (formerly Twitter), @DMK_blog shared an official statement from Hong Kong Disneyland Resort regarding the updated security process.
“The safety of our guests and cast members at Hong Kong Disneyland Resort (HKDL) is at the forefront of everything we do,” a Disney spokesperson stated. “We continually evaluate and will make adjustments as needed. Metal detectors have been implemented at Disney resorts around the world, and we are now introducing them as part of the security screening procedures for guests entering Hong Kong Disneyland Park.”
Guests arriving at Hong Kong Disneyland Resort now encounter signs detailing the security process, including a list of prohibited items. Instructions are available in multiple languages to accommodate both local and international visitors.
Yesterday (March 12, 2025), Hong Kong Disneyland Resort installed metal detectors at the main entrance. Starting TODAY (March 13, 2025), enhanced security procedures are in effect, with the main gate featuring thorough screenings and clear signage on prohibited items to help ensure a safe and magical experience for all Guests.
