Halloween has officially arrived at Magic Kingdom, and the first Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party of 2026 opens its gates tonight. For many Walt Disney World fans, it's one of the biggest events of the year, combining exclusive entertainment, specialty snacks, rare characters, and trick-or-treating into one after-hours celebration. Guests who have attended in the past will recognize plenty of returning favorites, but they'll also find several noticeable changes waiting around the park.
Disney has refreshed multiple parts of the event this year, from live entertainment and themed merchandise to food offerings and interactive experiences. Here's a look at seven of the biggest updates debuting at Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party in 2026.
A Halloween Tradition Returns
Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party takes place on select nights through October 31 and is offered as a separately ticketed event at Magic Kingdom. Guests can enter the park at 4 p.m., while the party officially runs from 7 p.m. to midnight.
The event has become one of Walt Disney World's most anticipated annual celebrations thanks to its exclusive entertainment, trick-or-treat trails, rare character appearances, themed snacks, limited-edition merchandise, and lower attraction wait times. Returning favorites such as Mickey's Boo-to-You Halloween Parade and Disney's Not-So-Spooky Spectacular once again anchor the evening, but plenty of other experiences look different this year.
Party Costumes Get a New Look
One of the more surprising updates is happening behind the scenes.
Multiple cast members have shared online that Disney has introduced new costumes for employees working Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party. Some cast members have expressed disappointment over the switch, saying the previous costumes were one of the most enjoyable parts of working the event each fall.
The new designs appear to focus more on comfort during Florida's hot August evenings. While they may be easier to wear throughout a long shift, many longtime cast members still have a soft spot for the costumes they've worn in previous years.
Adventureland Welcomes Captain Jack Sparrow
Guests spending time in Adventureland will find a new entertainment option waiting for them.
Captain Jack's Buccaneer Bash makes its debut this year, giving Captain Jack Sparrow the chance to lead guests through an energetic pirate celebration filled with laughs and audience participation.
The addition also seems to build on the pirate atmosphere that Rusty Cutlass created over the past several parties. Rather than disappearing completely, the popular pirate musicians appear to have been folded into the larger entertainment offering, creating an even livelier experience for guests exploring Adventureland.
New Souvenirs Could Sell Out Quickly
Collectible popcorn buckets remain among the most popular event-exclusive souvenirs, and Disney has two new designs available this year.
Guests can purchase either the Hatbox Ghost Bucket or the Headless Horseman Bucket during the party. Disney has limited purchases to two buckets per person, per transaction, and availability is limited each night while supplies last.
Because event merchandise often disappears quickly, guests hoping to add one of these collectibles to their collection may want to stop by participating locations earlier in the evening.
A Dance Party Heads in a Different Direction
Cosmic Ray's Starlight Café is also getting a different atmosphere this year.
Disney has replaced Disney Junior Jam with Destination DescenDANCE Party, shifting the focus toward music and dance inspired by the Descendants films. Guests can join the celebration while dancing along to songs from the popular franchise.
Even though it's replacing last year's offering, Destination DescenDANCE isn't entirely new. Disney previously featured the experience during the 2024 Halloween party before introducing Disney Junior Jam the following season.
Disney Builds on Its Villain Success
Disney also appears ready to expand one of the party's newer ideas.
For the last two Halloween seasons, Fairytale Hall served as a villain-themed treat trail starring Maleficent and the Evil Queen. The walkthrough experience combined candy stops with memorable villain encounters and quickly became a standout addition.
Now Disney has teased even more villain surprises throughout the treat trails. While the company hasn't revealed every character, guests can expect additional familiar faces to appear as they make their way through the candy locations.
New Food Joins the Menu While Tomorrowland Gets an Update
The party's food lineup also features several fresh additions. Guests can try new offerings like the Hades Cake Pop, Phantom Pecan-Caramel Cheesecake, Headless Horseman Treat, Queen of Hearts Tart, and the Fang-tastic Garlic Butter Burger throughout the evening.
Another entertainment update is taking place in Tomorrowland. Zom-Beatz Bash has been replaced with Stitch's Masquerade Mashup at Rockettower Plaza Stage, where Stitch, Lilo, and Angel host a Halloween dance party. The new experience also adds more classic Disney characters to this year's entertainment lineup, following Disney Junior Jam's transition to the Descendants-themed celebration.
Plenty of New Reasons to Celebrate
Returning guests will still recognize much of what makes Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party special, but Disney has made enough changes to give the event a fresh feel in 2026.
Between new entertainment, expanded villain experiences, exclusive food, collectible merchandise, and updated dance parties, this year's celebration offers plenty of reasons to explore Magic Kingdom after dark.
As the season gets underway tonight, guests won't have to wait long to see which additions become the newest Halloween traditions.
