Disney Cruise Line has introduced new gratuity recommendations for passengers embarking on their voyages. These changes will go into effect starting January 23, 2025. For non-concierge guests, the pre-paid gratuity will now be set at $1.50 per person per day, which contributes to the well-deserved compensation for dining staff and stateroom hosts. Overall, the total recommended gratuity has risen to $16 per person per day.

For those traveling in concierge-level accommodations, the changes reflect a more substantial adjustment, with the gratuity recommendation increasing to $3.75 per person per day. This brings the total recommended gratuity for concierge guests to $27.25 per person per day. While these adjustments add a bit more to the cruising experience budget, it’s important to note that guests who have already pre-paid gratuities for upcoming sailings will not be affected by this increase.

This rise in gratuity recommendations reflects both the growing expectations for exceptional service and the overall cost associated with a Disney cruise experience. Guests should consider how this adjustment impacts their planned travel expenses.

Background of Disney Cruise Line Operations

Disney Cruise Line has a vibrant history that dates back to its incorporation in 1996, with its inaugural sailing on the Disney Magic in 1998. Since then, Disney has significantly expanded its fleet, which now boasts six vessels. The addition of the Disney Wish in 2022 and the Disney Treasure in 2024 showcases Disney’s commitment to enhancing cruise options for its guests.

Similar to trips to Disney theme parks, vacations aboard Disney Cruise Line may carry a hefty price tag. The recent increase in gratuity recommendations aligns with the general trend of rising costs as both vacationers and The Walt Disney Company enter the new year with fresh expenses in mind.

In addition to the increased gratuity recommendations, Disney has recently announced the cancellation of select 2025 sailings aboard the Disney Fantasy. Passengers affected by these cancellations are receiving full refunds along with offers for discounted future bookings. The Disney Fantasy, which first took to the seas in 2012, is often celebrated as one of Disney’s best cruise ships, and these cancellations have caused some disappointment among fans.

Despite these changes, Disney Cruise Line continues to grow and enhance its offerings. The company has plans in the works for additional ships, ensuring it remains a competitive player in the cruise industry.

Upcoming Additions to Disney Fleet

One of the most exciting developments in Disney’s cruising future is the introduction of the Disney Adventure, which will be based out of Singapore starting this December. Originally acquired from Genting Hong Kong, this vessel promises to present thrilling experiences to guests exploring the Asian waters.

Additionally, the upcoming Disney Destiny ship is set for its maiden voyage in November. This new ship will boast revolutionary amenities and experiences, including a much-anticipated top-deck roller coaster and various fine-dining options.

As Disney Cruise Line continues to innovate and expand its fleet, there will undoubtedly be exciting discoveries for passengers eager for adventure on the high seas. The new features and enhancements are sure to attract a wide range of cruise enthusiasts, making Disney Cruise Line a top choice for future vacations.
