The holiday season at Walt Disney World Resort has reached its busiest stretch, with Christmas week officially underway and New Year’s Eve preparations already taking shape. As guests arrive in large numbers to close out 2025, the parks are experiencing sustained demand across the resort.
This surge in attendance has been reflected in the availability of Lightning Lane pass selections, which have sold out on multiple days in a row. The trend has continued even while several attractions remain offline at Magic Kingdom, Disney’s Animal Kingdom, and Disney’s Hollywood Studios. With fewer rides available, crowd levels have remained high as visitors prioritize seasonal offerings and year-end celebrations.

While guests focus on the present, Walt Disney World is also looking ahead. The past year has been a pivotal one for the resort, laying groundwork for a wave of new experiences beginning in 2026. Over the next several years, guests will see major additions across multiple parks, including Piston Peak National Park in Frontierland, the debut of Monstropolis at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and the Tropical Americas replacing DinoLand U.S.A. at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. That area will introduce the Family Madrigal to the park, contributing to a resort-wide transformation expected to be complete by 2030.
Before those changes arrive, however, the immediate focus is on saying goodbye to 2025. Walt Disney World offers multiple in-park options for guests planning to ring in the New Year, with Magic Kingdom and EPCOT serving as the main celebration hubs.

“Both Magic Kingdom Park and EPCOT are known for their incredible New Year’s Eve celebrations, complete with fireworks that light up the sky. At Magic Kingdom, the Fantasy in the Sky fireworks are a beloved tradition, usually presented on both December 30 and 31, so you might even have two chances to experience them!” planDisney shared earlier this year. “The show typically takes place around midnight, and the park can reach capacity early in the day, so I definitely recommend arriving bright and early to soak in the magic.”
EPCOT’s New Year’s Eve offerings expand beyond fireworks alone, transforming World Showcase into a park-wide celebration.
“At EPCOT, the celebration is equally magical. The Cheers to the New Year: A Sparkling Celebration fireworks bring an amazing midnight countdown and a grand finale over World Showcase Lagoon,” planDisney added. “DJs and dance parties often happen throughout the different pavilions for an around-the-world celebration!”

These DJ stages are a core part of EPCOT’s New Year’s Eve atmosphere, and early signs of setup are already visible. As reported by Kenny the Pirate, construction has started on the New Year’s Eve stage located in the Italy pavilion. Despite Christmas still being days away, the resort appears to be moving ahead with preparations.
“Erected in the Italy pavilion, this lighting surrounds where the La Befana storyteller shares the Epiphany tradition,” Kenny the Pirate shared. The construction stands out to guests exploring World Showcase, particularly those visiting the pavilion ahead of the New Year’s Eve festivities.
With fireworks plans confirmed, stages going up, and crowds already filling the parks, Walt Disney World is quickly transitioning from Christmas celebrations to the final countdown of 2025.
