Disney's Hollywood Studios is dealing with an unexpected attraction problem that has now stretched across three consecutive days.
Slinky Dog Dash remains closed at Toy Story Land, leaving one of the park's most popular attractions unavailable with no confirmed return date.
The coaster didn't operate on August 31 or September 1. As September 2 began, Slinky Dog Dash was still unavailable.
Disney has not publicly explained what's causing the extended downtime.
And while the coaster itself is obviously the center of the story, its continued absence can have consequences across Hollywood Studios.
One of Hollywood Studios' Busiest Rides Is Missing
Slinky Dog Dash plays an important role in Hollywood Studios' attraction lineup.
The coaster is approachable enough for many families while still offering the kind of experience that makes it a priority attraction. As a result, it can produce some of the park's longest waits.
When those guests can't ride Slinky Dog Dash, they don't simply disappear.
Instead, they move somewhere else.
Toy Story Mania! is one obvious option. Mickey & Minnie's Runaway Railway can attract families looking for another major experience.
Guests seeking bigger thrills may instead head toward The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror or Rock ‘n' Roller Coaster Starring the Muppets.
Then there are the two major Star Wars attractions, Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run and Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance.
Each of those attractions already handles its own significant demand.
One Closure Can Affect the Entire Park
This is what makes Slinky Dog Dash being unavailable for several days particularly frustrating.
Hollywood Studios has some enormous attractions, but there aren't enough rides to make losing a headliner insignificant.
Slinky Dog Dash normally keeps a substantial number of people occupied throughout the day. Some guests might spend an hour or longer between entering its queue and completing the attraction.
Take that option away, and those guests have additional time to spend elsewhere.
The effect becomes even more noticeable if another major attraction experiences temporary downtime while Slinky Dog Dash remains unavailable.
Suddenly, Hollywood Studios could find itself trying to distribute thousands of guests among an even smaller operating attraction lineup.
No Reopening Timeline Has Been Announced
The biggest unknown remains when Slinky Dog Dash will actually return.
Disney hasn't announced a reopening date or explained what's keeping the coaster offline. That makes it impossible to know whether guests are looking at another day of downtime or a return sometime soon.
The attraction also experienced lengthy interruptions on August 28 and August 29 before failing to operate over the following three days.
Disney hasn't indicated whether those issues are related.
For now, anyone visiting Hollywood Studios should keep an eye on My Disney Experience and avoid assuming Slinky Dog Dash will be available.

If this closure continues much longer, however, Slinky Dog Dash's absence could become an even bigger operational headache for a park that needs every major attraction it can get.
