Fight Breaks Out at Magic Kingdom – Over a Bottle of Water

A bizarre altercation recently unfolded at Magic Kingdom Park, where three guests became embroiled in a heated argument over something as trivial as getting splashed with water on the Pirates of the Caribbean ride. The unusual incident has sparked debate online, with many Disney Parks fans questioning how a seemingly small matter escalated into a public dispute.

On July 12, Jennalynn (@jennalynnmj on TikTok) shared a video capturing the tense moment that unfolded at the exit of Pirates of the Caribbean. The video, filmed in the gift shop area just after the ride ended, shows the confrontation between the guests, with one man accused of splashing others with his water bottle while riding the attraction.

The video starts with the argument escalating as one of the men, who had allegedly used his water bottle to splash fellow guests, tries to justify his actions. He admonishes the others for not acting like “adults,” a comment that doesn’t sit well with the other men involved. One of the men retorts, “This is Disney World, not your world!”

The situation only grows more tense, and a woman (possibly one who had previously screamed “HELP!”) joins the conversation, explaining that the man with the water bottle had flung it around, splashing everyone on the ride.

Once the woman and the man realize Jennalynn is recording, their frustration is palpable. The man sarcastically says, “Oh, good. You’re recording. Good job, guys,” while giving a thumbs up. In response, Jennalynn quips, “This is my cheap entertainment.”

As more Disney cast members approach, Jennalynn tells them that the man beside her had “started the argument.” Another guest argues that no one involved handled the situation well. The video ends with one Disney cast member telling the group to “relax.”

Jennalynn said she didn’t understand the problem: “On a 100° day, somebody could splash me with water all they want.”

Walt Disney World Resort fans were quick to share their opinions on the fight in the comments. Some agreed with Jennalynn, noting that Disney cast members likely endure far worse conditions.

“They’re going after that cast member complaining like petulant children.. that CM who has to wear THAT COSTUME (iykyk) in an open air/barely any ceiling store in 100-degree weather.. those socks alone are insufferable any time a year, especially summer,” @squeezibean wrote.

Others pointed out that water splashes are part of the ride experience. @magicalbumblebri said, “They know they get wet ON that ride, right?”

On the other hand, some people sided with the other guests, expressing that they, too, would be upset if a random person splashed them during the ride.

“I don’t want some random person throwing water or whatever he wants on me,” @d379pr commented.

“Okay but I’d be sooooo mad if someone sprayed their water bottle on me they had every right to call him out,” @hannah_backwards9 added. “Who does that? Especially with the price of those smart waters.”

Meanwhile, a few fans felt that the entire situation could have been handled better.

“Please ban all of them,” said @mrcoache.

“Disney needs to start ejecting these idiots!” @barriekuehnle agreed. “Cost too much to deal with this stuff!! Seriously!”

The incident is just the latest in a series of public debates over Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean ride. The attraction has long been the subject of controversy, particularly following changes to the ride’s animatronics and narrative. In the late 2010s, Disney Imagineering replaced the animatronic brides-for-auction with independent female pirates. This move sparked heated discussions over preserving historical accuracy versus creating a more inclusive experience.

More recently, in 2023, a TikTok user expressed discomfort with the male pirate animatronics, saying, “I just think this is kind of a weird ride. I don’t know… It’s just a little bit rapey.”

The video sparked backlash, though some women agreed with the TikToker’s point of view, commenting that the ride felt uncomfortable and objectifying. One user said, “It feels like we’re the entertainment for them and I do not like it,” while another agreed, saying, “I always felt violated on this ride.”

Despite the ongoing debates about the ride, Walt Disney Imagineering has not announced any further changes to Pirates of the Caribbean. However, a Pirates of the Caribbean-themed lounge, called The Beak and Barrel, is scheduled to open in Adventureland at Magic Kingdom Park later this year.
