Disney World visitors have been eagerly waiting for one familiar Grand Floridian experience to come back.
The extended closure began in July, removing a longtime option from one of the resort's most popular hotels. While guests haven't been left without alternatives, anyone who regularly included this particular stop in their Magic Kingdom plans has certainly noticed its absence.
Fortunately, the end of the wait is getting closer.
Disney has now opened reservations beginning in November, putting the return roughly 60 days away. For guests planning fall and holiday trips, it means a familiar Grand Floridian favorite can finally be added back to the itinerary.
The Grand Floridian Is More Than Just a Hotel
Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa has been a major part of the Magic Kingdom Resort Area for decades.
Sitting along Seven Seas Lagoon, the Victorian-inspired hotel offers guests several easy ways to reach Magic Kingdom. Visitors can ride the monorail, take a boat, or use the walking path connecting the resort and theme park.
That location makes the Grand Floridian particularly appealing for people who want to step away from Magic Kingdom during a long park day.
However, plenty of people visit without ever staying overnight.
The resort's elaborate lobby, waterfront views, upscale setting, and selection of restaurants give guests reasons to stop by while visiting Walt Disney World.
That also means a closure involving one of its longtime offerings can affect more than Grand Floridian hotel guests.
And this particular closure has lasted throughout much of the summer.
A Longtime Restaurant Has Been Closed Since July
Grand Floridian Café closed on July 20 for an extended refurbishment, temporarily removing the restaurant from the resort's dining lineup.
For regular visitors, its absence left a noticeable gap.
Grand Floridian Café has traditionally provided guests with a relaxed sit-down experience without requiring the more elaborate meals found at some of the resort's higher-end restaurants.
Its location near Magic Kingdom added another layer of convenience.
Instead of spending the entire day inside the park, guests could make their way to the Grand Floridian, enjoy a meal and some time away from the crowds, and then return to Magic Kingdom afterward.
That option disappeared when the refurbishment began.
Now that the closure has stretched well beyond a month, however, guests finally have a date to plan around.
November Reservations Are Now Available
Guests can currently make dinner reservations for Grand Floridian Café beginning November 2, 2026.
By the time those November reservations arrive, the restaurant will have been unavailable for more than 100 days.
That makes this a substantial refurbishment period, especially for guests who have made Grand Floridian Café part of previous Disney World vacations.
The timing of its return should also be useful for holiday visitors.
Disney World will head into its busy holiday season in November, bringing plenty of visitors to Magic Kingdom and nearby resorts. The Grand Floridian also attracts guests during the season with its decorations and holiday atmosphere.
Restoring another sit-down option gives those visitors one more place to consider when planning their days.
Of course, anyone visiting before November will still need to find somewhere else to eat.
Plenty of Alternatives Remain Nearby
Grand Floridian guests don't have to travel far to find other dining options during the remaining closure.
Gasparilla Island Grill offers a quick-service option for visitors who want something more casual and don't want to spend as much time on a sit-down meal.
Other restaurants around the Grand Floridian can provide a more upscale experience.
The resort's position along the monorail route also opens additional possibilities.
Guests can travel to Disney's Polynesian Village Resort or Disney's Contemporary Resort to explore more dining choices. Magic Kingdom is nearby as well, making it possible to return to the park for a meal.
Those choices won't necessarily replace Grand Floridian Café for longtime fans, but they offer visitors alternatives until the refurbishment concludes.
Grand Floridian Café Is Getting Closer to Its Return
What started as a July closure will ultimately keep the Grand Floridian Café unavailable for more than three months.
That's a long time for a restaurant that has become a familiar part of the Grand Floridian experience.
Thankfully, guests can finally see the end of that wait.
With dinner reservations available beginning November 2, visitors traveling later this year can start putting Grand Floridian Café back into their plans.
For everyone who has missed the restaurant since its July closure, only about 60 days remain before this longtime Grand Floridian option is expected to reopen.
