An evening at Walt Disney World Resort took an unexpected turn on July 24 after emergency evacuations were carried out at both Disney's Beach Club Resort and Disney's Yacht Club Resort, temporarily sending guests and cast members outside while the situations were investigated.
Kenny the Pirate reports that alarms sounded at approximately 8:00 p.m., prompting evacuations at the neighboring deluxe resorts. Although the two hotels sit side by side on Crescent Lake, the outlet said the incidents appeared to involve separate fire alarm activations rather than a single shared event.
Disney's Yacht Club Resort and Disney's Beach Club Resort remain among the most popular accommodation options at Walt Disney World thanks to their location within walking distance of EPCOT's International Gateway and convenient boat transportation to Disney's Hollywood Studios. Guests at both hotels also have access to Stormalong Bay, the expansive pool complex that recently reopened after refurbishment.
According to Kenny the Pirate, everyone inside the affected buildings—including guests and cast members—was instructed to evacuate while emergency procedures were completed. One guest eating at Ale & Compass Restaurant during the incident told the outlet that their meal was interrupted by the evacuation. After returning inside, the family was reportedly informed that their dinner would be complimentary.
Although guests occasionally encounter scheduled fire alarm testing at Disney Resort hotels, those events are generally communicated ahead of time through notices placed around the property. Kenny the Pirate reported there was no evidence that the July 24 alarms were part of any planned testing program.
No official cause has been announced for either alarm, and there have been no reports suggesting a fire occurred or that anyone was injured during the incidents.
Disney has long maintained comprehensive emergency procedures throughout Walt Disney World Resort, with cast members trained under the company's “Five Keys” philosophy: Safety, Courtesy, Inclusion, Show, and Efficiency. Those standards are intended to ensure quick and consistent responses whenever an emergency alarm is triggered.
Although the evacuations briefly disrupted the evening for resort guests, both Disney's Yacht Club Resort and Disney's Beach Club Resort were able to return to normal operations after the buildings were assessed and cleared for re-entry.
