Statistically, places like Walt Disney World Resort maintain an impressive safety record. While incidents do occur, they most often involve minor injuries or pre-existing health conditions rather than the park’s attractions.

Recent Guest Incidents at Disney World

The latest report from the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services – which provides four quarterly reports on all incidents requiring hospitalization at the four theme parks – lists all of the incidents occurring at Walt Disney World between July and September 2024.

Earlier this year, the same ride was the scene of another incident when a woman fainted during the high-speed adventure.

EPCOT

A 68-year-old man with a preexisting condition experienced chest pain after riding The Seas with Nemo and Friends at EPCOT. In a separate incident, a five-year-old boy faced a medical emergency following his ride on the park’s Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind roller coaster.

As previously reported by Inside the Magic, the incident happened about 20 seconds into the ride, triggered by what was later revealed to be a preexisting heart condition. The child eventually underwent surgery. His parents credited Disney World cast members for saving his life, writing on Facebook, “Disney always had my heart, but now they own it. They have my thanks, and I am in debt to them forever and ever.”

Disney’s Hollywood Studios

No incidents were reported at Hollywood Studios for the third quarter of 2024.
