Disney World Officially Redecorates the Magic Kingdom

The patriotic spirit is back at Walt Disney World Resort as the Magic Kingdom gets ready for the upcoming Memorial Day and Fourth of July celebrations. This week, guests strolling down Main Street, U.S.A., noticed a sudden transformation, with red, white, and blue decorations adorning the iconic area overnight.

Walt Disney himself was a proud patriot, and the nostalgic Americana charm of Main Street, U.S.A., pays homage to that legacy. Walt Disney World Resort has always embraced this spirit, especially through Liberty Square with its Hall of Presidents and the American Adventure Pavilion at EPCOT. Each evening, the Flag Retreat ceremony in Magic Kingdom Park’s Town Square invites veterans to help retire the American flag.

The Fourth of July is one of the busiest holidays at Walt Disney World Resort. On Independence Day and New Year’s Eve, the Magic Kingdom puts on its famous 360-degree fireworks show, illuminating the skies around Cinderella Castle in a dazzling display. These nights often see the park reach capacity, with guests vying for prime viewing spots.

Recently, WDWNT reported a fresh wave of patriotic decorations across Main Street, U.S.A. Red, white, and blue bunting festoons windows, balconies, rooftops, and railings on landmarks like the firehouse, City Hall, Town Square Theater, Main Street Train Station, and the car barn. The decorations extend along the street to storefronts such as The Emporium, Main Street Confectionery, Plaza Ice Cream Parlor, and Casey’s Corner.

Even the Liberty Square Riverboat has been dressed in patriotic finery. This might be one of its last Fourth of July celebrations, as the riverboat, much of Rivers of America, and Tom Sawyer Island are slated to close soon for the addition of two Cars (2006) attractions in Frontierland.
