Disney World Replaces Aerosmith: New Muppet Animatronics and ‘FØØD by Swedish Chef’ Revealed in Major Roundup

The countdown to Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets is almost over, and Disney just revealed a much closer look at what guests can expect when the attraction opens on May 26 at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

The updated coaster does far more than replace Aerosmith with Muppet characters. Disney has built an entirely new storyline around The Electric Mayhem, added fresh ride music, introduced themed food and merchandise, and created new Audio-Animatronic figures for the experience.

With several other additions also arriving at Hollywood Studios this month, Disney appears to be turning May into one of the park’s biggest expansion periods in recent memory.

The Muppets Take Over G-Force Records

Disney’s updated storyline places guests inside a newly reworked G-Force Records. The company now operates under the direction of J.P. Grosse, a Muppet businessman connected to the Muppet Theatre.

That change allows Scooter to guide guests through the backstage tour before the concert begins.

Inside the recording studio once occupied by Aerosmith, guests now encounter The Electric Mayhem rehearsing “Can You Picture That?” while preparing for a major performance. Disney also confirmed that Scooter appears as a brand-new Audio-Animatronic figure built specifically for the attraction.

To make the character feel more realistic, Imagineers reportedly used motion-capture technology during a live Scooter performance. Disney says the process helped recreate the Muppet’s movements and personality with incredible precision.

The queue also introduces penguin audio engineers that longtime fans may recognize from MuppetVision 3D. Their designs closely resemble Elmer, Eugene, and Estelle from the classic attraction.

After the backstage portion of the experience ends, guests board the L.I.M.O. vehicles and launch directly into a high-speed Electric Mayhem concert.

Multiple Songs Will Play During the Ride

Disney also confirmed that the coaster will feature multiple soundtrack options instead of a single repeating song.

Guests may hear:

  • “Song 2”
  • “Born To Be Wild”
  • “Love Rollercoaster”
  • “Rock! Rock! (Till You Drop)”
  • “Walking on Sunshine”

The soundtrack lineup also includes collaborations with Kelly Clarkson, Questlove, Jennifer Hudson, Camilla the Chicken, and Def Leppard.

According to Disney, each song creates a different concert atmosphere during the ride. Some versions feel heavier and louder while others lean into a more playful Muppet energy.

Disney also hinted that additional tracks may already exist behind the scenes, allowing the company to refresh the attraction later.

New Shopping and Dining Areas Join the Ride

The Muppet takeover extends well beyond the coaster itself.

After riders grab their concert-style PhotoPass image, they exit into Rock Around the Shop, which features a new collection of attraction merchandise. Disney revealed shirts themed to The Electric Mayhem, a novelty “MUPP3T5” license plate magnet, and a flashy Miss Piggy shirt tied to the attraction.

One of the more eye-catching pieces is a guitar-shaped Loungefly bag featuring Animal and Kermit alongside the phrase “ROCK ON!”

Nearby, guests can stop at FØØD by Swedish Chef for a collection of Muppet-inspired snacks and drinks. Disney confirmed menu items including Wocka Wocking Nachos, the Churro Drumstick, and the Mayhem Soft-Serve Float.

Additional offerings include Mini Corn Dogs, frozen floats, cookies, waffle cones, assorted chips, and Frozen Blue Raspberry drinks with optional Bacardi Superior Rum or Tito’s Handmade Vodka.

Disney Has Even Bigger Plans for Hollywood Studios

The Muppets coaster is only one part of Disney’s busy May schedule at Hollywood Studios.

On May 26, Disney will also open the Walt Disney Studios area, inspired by the company’s historic Burbank lot. The area will include studio-themed surroundings, Disney Jr. Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Live!, and The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure.

Later this summer, Disney plans to add The Magic of Disney Animation, featuring character experiences, animation activities, and themed play areas for families.

Before any of that opens, Disney will also debut a new Mandalorian and Grogu mission on Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run beginning May 22.

Hollywood Studios has spent years evolving, but this summer may end up feeling like one of the park’s biggest turning points yet.
