Disney World Resort Hotels 101 – An Overview of Staying at a Disney Resort Property

1. Transportation & Park Access

One of the best things about Disney World resort hotels is that they offer free transportation to and from the parks.

  • Bus stops are all over WDW, with continual service between them. Certain routes do require transfers, but hey, at least the buses are air conditioned.
  • Water taxis and ferryboatscan be taken from select resorts, particularly those near Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Hollywood Studios, and Disney Springs.
  • Disney’s iconic monorailstravel around the Seven Seas Lagoon near Magic Kingdom, stopping at three resort hotels along the way: the Contemporary, the Grand Floridian, and the Polynesian. There’s also one that runs to Epcot from the Transportation and Ticket Center.

This should be enough to at least get you started in your Disney World resort hotel research. There’s plenty more to learn about these magical places, but that’s for another article.
