Walt Disney World has entered its fall operating period, bringing a new round of scheduling adjustments to Magic Kingdom, the resort's flagship park and the most-attended theme park in the world.
Magic Kingdom houses Cinderella Castle alongside beloved attractions Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, Space Mountain, and “it's a small world.” Construction remains active throughout the park, notably on the upcoming Piston Peak National Park expansion and the adjacent Villains Land project, though neither has curbed visitor volume.
Financial data released during Disney's most recent quarterly earnings call showed a modest rise in domestic park attendance, according to Disney Experiences CEO Josh D'Amaro. Segment revenue rose more sharply than attendance, a gap attributed to increased ticket pricing, premium add-ons such as Lightning Lane, and higher hotel rates.
Those pricing increases extend to Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, the hard-ticketed seasonal event now running across August, September, and October. On scheduled party nights, general park access ends at 6 p.m., and standard nighttime offerings — the Disney Starlight Parade and Happily Ever After — are suspended in favor of Mickey's Boo-To-You Halloween Parade and the Not-So-Spooky Halloween Spectacular projection show at the castle.
September carries 13 confirmed party dates, meaning the event occupies close to half the month's calendar. On those evenings, Disney is directing non-party guests toward EPCOT, Hollywood Studios, Animal Kingdom, or Disney Springs.
To offset reduced access, Disney has implemented compensating hour adjustments on both party and non-party days. For example, on Friday, September 11 — a party date — the park opens at 8 a.m., with early entry available at 7:30 a.m. for eligible guests. The following day, Saturday, September 12, has no scheduled party; the park opens at the same 8 a.m./7:30 a.m. early-entry window but closes at 11 p.m. instead of the standard 10 p.m., extending the operating day to nearly 16 hours.
A similar access pattern is expected once Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party begins on November 8. Confirmed September party dates are as follows: 1, 4, 8, 11, 13, 15, 18, 20, 22, 24, 25, 27, and 29. Sixteen additional dates are scheduled in October, concluding on Halloween night. Guests planning fall visits are advised to check operating calendars closely, as hours continue to shift week to week.
