Disney World Slashes Hours for 44-Year-Old EPCOT Attraction

Not every major change at Walt Disney World involves closing an attraction or introducing something new.

Sometimes, Disney simply reduces an experience's operating hours, making it much more difficult for guests to enjoy.

That's exactly what appears to be happening at EPCOT, where a longtime attraction is preparing to lose a significant portion of its daily schedule.

For guests who enjoy the park's original experiences, the upcoming adjustment could be particularly disappointing.

And with the change scheduled to begin January 1, 2027, visitors have only a limited time left to enjoy the current operating schedule.

EPCOT Attraction Faces Significant Schedule Reduction

Impressions de France, one of EPCOT's original attractions, is scheduled to lose its evening showtimes beginning January 1, 2027.

The film debuted when EPCOT opened in October 1982 and has remained a longtime favorite among guests who appreciate World Showcase's cultural experiences.

Located inside the France pavilion, the attraction transports visitors through beautiful French landscapes, historic landmarks, and famous destinations.

Unlike EPCOT's thrill rides, Impressions de France offers a slower, more relaxing experience.

Unfortunately, guests may soon have to plan their mornings around it.

Currently, the film operates from 9:00 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. and again between 7:00 p.m. and 8:45 p.m.

However, Disney's newly listed January schedule removes the evening presentations entirely.

Beginning January 1, the attraction is only scheduled to operate during the morning half-hour window.

That means visitors who typically explore World Showcase during the afternoon or evening could miss the experience altogether.

Disney's Schedule Creates an Unusual Situation

Impressions de France shares its theater with Beauty and the Beast Sing-Along, which debuted in January 2020.

The sing-along, based on Beauty and the Beast (1991), occupies most of the theater's daily operating schedule.

Beginning in January, the sing-along is expected to continue operating between 10:00 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. on most dates.

However, Disney has not added additional performances to replace the eliminated evening showtimes for Impressions de France.

Instead, the theater currently has no presentations scheduled after 6:30 p.m.

That makes the change somewhat unusual, especially considering Disney previously attempted something similar.

In March 2023, Disney reduced Impressions de France to morning-only performances before restoring its evening schedule just three days later.

The attraction also temporarily closed for refurbishment in February 2026 before reopening in May with its previous schedule.

Now, another reduction is approaching.

Three Dates Could Be Especially Disappointing

While most January visitors will have a brief opportunity to experience Impressions de France, guests visiting on three specific dates may have no opportunity at all.

EPCOT is scheduled to open at 10:00 a.m. on January 7, 9, and 10, 2027.

Because the film's only scheduled operating window ends at 9:30 a.m., Disney currently lists no performances on those dates.

Beauty and the Beast Sing-Along will instead begin at 11:00 a.m.

For guests who enjoy EPCOT's older attractions, the reduced availability is another reminder of how much the park has changed over the years.

However, Disney has not announced that Impressions de France is closing permanently.

The current schedule also only extends through January 12, meaning additional operating hours could appear later.

Visitors hoping to enjoy the classic film during the evening can still do so through December 31, 2026, according to the published schedule.

Until Disney confirms whether these adjustments are permanent, guests should continue monitoring the My Disney Experience app for updates.

For now, one of EPCOT's oldest experiences is preparing to become considerably harder to enjoy.
