After sitting closed for three straight days, the Toy Story Land coaster finally reopened for Early Entry and started carrying guests again. For anyone who had watched the attraction remain unavailable all week, it looked like the long shutdown had finally ended.
Then the ride went down again.
At approximately 10:00 a.m., Slinky Dog Dash stopped operating. By 1:00 p.m., it had still not returned, creating another frustrating situation for guests hoping to experience one of the park’s most in-demand rides.
Slinky Dog Dash Is a Big Part of a Hollywood Studios Day
Slinky Dog Dash has become one of the defining attractions at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
The coaster anchors Toy Story Land, where Disney places guests inside Andy’s backyard and surrounds them with oversized toys, colorful scenery, and familiar Toy Story characters.
The ride itself has a broad appeal.

Slinky Dog Dash already experienced several hours of downtime on both Friday and Saturday.
The situation became even more serious when the attraction failed to open at all on Monday, August 31, Tuesday, September 1, and Wednesday, September 2.
That left guests without the coaster for three full operating days.
Thursday morning finally offered some hope.
Slinky Dog Dash reopened with the park for Early Entry, allowing guests to board again after the extended closure.
But the return was short-lived.
By roughly 10:00 a.m., the attraction had stopped operating once more. Several hours later, it remained unavailable.
Stormy weather eventually moved into the area, but the coaster reportedly closed before those conditions arrived. That suggests weather may not have been the only reason for the latest shutdown.
Disney has not publicly announced what caused the problem.
A ride vehicle was spotted stopped near the second launch, and an electrical panel in the area was open. Those details do not confirm an electrical failure or any other specific issue, but they add to the uncertainty surrounding the attraction.
Could Disney Need a Longer Closure?
There is currently no announced refurbishment for Slinky Dog Dash.
Disney also has not provided a timetable for when the coaster might reopen.
Still, the recent pattern naturally raises questions.
After several hours of downtime, three consecutive days without operation, and then another shutdown shortly after reopening, Disney could eventually decide that crews need more time for repairs, inspections, testing, or maintenance.
That could mean an unexpected refurbishment period, although there is no confirmation that Disney plans to take that step.
The ride could also return quickly if crews identify the issue and resolve it without needing a longer closure.

Guests Still Have Other Toy Story Land Options
Even without Slinky Dog Dash, Toy Story Land is not completely off the table.
Toy Story Mania! gives guests an interactive experience built around carnival-style games and familiar Toy Story characters.
Alien Swirling Saucers provides another ride option, sending guests spinning around a colorful play area alongside the Little Green Men.
The land also includes character experiences and plenty of themed details that help sell the idea that guests have shrunk down inside Andy’s backyard.
Food can also help fill some time.
Woody’s Lunch Box offers quick-service items, while Roundup Rodeo BBQ gives guests a more substantial themed dining experience.
Those alternatives can keep visitors busy, but for many families, they do not fully make up for the loss of Slinky Dog Dash.
Disney Guests Are Back to Waiting
Thursday morning appeared to bring the good news guests had been waiting for.
Instead, Slinky Dog Dash reopened and then closed again only a few hours later.
Disney has not confirmed what caused the newest problem, and there is still no clear timeline for when the ride will return.
