As its 70th anniversary celebrations come to a close, Disneyland Resort is tearing down a towering sculpture of Sleeping Beauty Castle. For over a year, the towering, colorful statue has welcomed guests walking through the esplanade between Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park. Here's what Southern California Disney Parks fans need to know.
Sleeping Beauty Castle Comes Down

The Disneyland70 celebrations, which included limited-time entertainment, attraction overlays, and merchandise offerings across Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park, began on July 17, 2025. They're scheduled to wrap up on August 9, 2026, but Disneyland Resort is already removing one of its tributes to seven decades of magic.
On July 21, WDWNT reported that Disneyland Resort was dismantling the Sleeping Beauty Castle sculpture built in the esplanade between Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park for the 70th anniversary of the Happiest Place on Earth. The outlet shared a photo of the partially disassembled display on social media:
The outlet also reported that teal blue construction walls now surround the former tribute to Sleeping Beauty Castle. Its towers and roof have been removed, but some elements remain, including the golden archway and stained-glass details.
Each tower featured a flag and a decorative element inspired by the original Disneyland Park lands: Frontierland, Fantasyland, Tomorrowland, Adventureland, and Main Street, U.S.A. A metal cutout of Walt Disney and Mickey Mouse was replaced partway through the Disneyland70 celebrations after countless guests suggested that Walt Disney's hat made the silhouette look more like President Donald Trump than the founder of Disneyland Resort.

The Disneyland70 celebrations continue through August 9, 2026. Check the Disneyland Resort website or official mobile app for the most up-to-date information on anniversary offerings at Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park.
