Tonight will bring a major change for anyone planning to spend their evening at Disney California Adventure.
The 2026 Oogie Boogie Bash season officially begins August 18, turning the park over to separately ticketed party guests beginning at 6:00 p.m.
For everyone else, that means the Disney California Adventure portion of the day comes to an early end.
Guests without Oogie Boogie Bash admission will need to leave the park as Disney transitions into the Halloween event. Anyone arriving at 6:00 p.m. with only regular park admission won't be able to enter for the evening.
And tonight is only the beginning.
Oogie Boogie Bash Takes Over California Adventure
Oogie Boogie Bash is Disneyland Resort's separately ticketed Halloween event at Disney California Adventure.
The party runs from 6:00 p.m. until 11:00 p.m. on select nights in August, September, and October. Event ticket holders can enter Disney California Adventure as early as 3:00 p.m., giving them three hours inside before the official party begins.
Once 6:00 p.m. arrives, however, regular daytime operations end.
That distinction matters for anyone visiting Disneyland Resort without an Oogie Boogie Bash ticket.
A guest could spend most of August 18 enjoying Disney California Adventure normally. But that regular admission doesn't extend into the Halloween party.
The same situation will repeat dozens of times over the next several months.
Several Oogie Boogie Bash Nights Have Sold Out
The first party also arrives as Oogie Boogie Bash tickets continue disappearing.
The latest reported round of sellouts included August 20 and 27, September 1, and October 13, 20, and 29.
Those dates joined several parties that had already sold out.
That could create an unpleasant surprise for guests who haven't paid close attention to the Disneyland Resort calendar.
You can't simply decide at 6:00 p.m. that you'd like to remain inside Disney California Adventure and use your regular ticket. Oogie Boogie Bash requires separate admission, and a sold-out event leaves no ticket option for regular guests hoping to stay.
Disneyland Guests Need to Plan Around 6 P.M.
This is particularly important for anyone hoping to visit Disney California Adventure later in the day.
On Oogie Boogie Bash nights, guests essentially have a deadline.
If you're already inside the park without party admission, your Disney California Adventure day ends when regular operations conclude. If you're thinking about hopping over for an evening visit, you'll need another plan.
Disneyland Park becomes the obvious alternative for many guests with eligible admission.
That could also affect how visitors divide their attraction priorities. Instead of saving several Disney California Adventure rides for nighttime, guests may want to complete those experiences earlier.
The Early Closures Aren't Going Away Soon
Oogie Boogie Bash is scheduled for 33 nights in 2026, running from August 18 through October 31.
That means tonight's early cutoff isn't a one-time inconvenience.
Disney California Adventure will repeatedly close to regular guests at 6:00 p.m. as Oogie Boogie Bash continues.
For party guests, that's when the night really begins. Oogie Boogie Bash includes immersive treat trails, special entertainment and other Halloween experiences throughout the park. Disney describes it as a five-hour separately ticketed event.
For everyone else, 6:00 p.m. means something very different.
Starting tonight, regular guests need to keep a closer eye on the calendar before making evening plans at Disney California Adventure.
Otherwise, they could arrive ready for several more hours in the park only to discover that Oogie Boogie has already taken over.
