A recent incident at Disneyland Park has drawn significant attention to the Southern California theme park on social media.

Val, a Disney Park guest, took to the platform to recount a disturbing experience she had while waiting in line for food. The emotional narrative unfolded through her video, where she expressed disbelief over encountering racism at a place widely regarded as the “Happiest Place on Earth.” Val’s TikTok account (@nicunurseval), where she typically shares heartfelt and amusing content, became a platform for raising awareness about racism.

While waiting at Alien Pizza Planet, Val found herself in an uncomfortable situation when a man began making overtly racist remarks directed at Hispanic guests. This man, standing directly behind her in line, made comments that undermined the presence of Hispanic families, stating, “You can’t enjoy it with all these Hispanics around.” Val was upset, trying to ignore the derogatory remarks as they escalated. As he continued, making increasingly offensive comments about non-white children in the vicinity, her patience wore thin.

Ultimately, Val confronted him, expressing her disgust at his language. Her words echoed a collective sentiment among those who believe discrimination has no place in public spaces, especially one as family-oriented as Disneyland Park. She walked away disheartened, with the encounter marring her experience.

Call for Accountability and Awareness

Val’s video documented her encounter and served as a call to action for those witnessing discriminatory behavior. The response to her TikTok post was overwhelmingly supportive, with many viewers expressing solidarity and encouraging her to report the incident to Disneyland Resort cast members. Messages flooded in praising her courage for standing up and condemning the man’s behavior while advocating for a kinder community.

However, beyond anger, the Southern California Disney Park guest recounted a deep sadness and disappointment, noting, “Imagine being at Disneyland and being so bothered by people that aren’t doing anything to you.” The thrill and joy usually associated with such outings were overshadowed by the unfortunate presence of prejudice.

Val’s recounting reflects a broader issue many individuals face in public spaces: feeling unsafe or unwelcome due to their identity. Her dismay stemmed not just from the man’s words but also from the realization that such encounters can happen anywhere, even in places meant for happiness and family enjoyment.

“These kinds of people are real, and they don’t care about who’s around them,” she said.

Support Among the Disney Parks Fan Community

Encouragement to Report Incidents at Disney

In the wake of Val’s experience, the Disney Parks fan community responded with a flood of support. Many suggested that reporting incidents like the one she faced should be a standard practice. Disney’s own policies prohibit offensive behavior, and Disney Park guests facing similar experiences should feel empowered to report such actions to cast members.

Val’s story resonated with many other guests who have faced racism or discrimination. Other individuals have stepped forward to share their distressing encounters at the theme park, noting instances of racial slurs or derogatory remarks directed at them or their families.

“The first time I experienced this, I was shaking!” @alainaab commented. “I left and broke down in my car bc we grow up as kids thinking spreading kindness is the norm especially when you grow [up with] a very diverse community and then it hits you that’s it’s not the reality we perceived it to be, so disappointing and disgusting.”

Notify a Disneyland Resort cast member if you experience discriminatory or violent behavior. Security can and will remove guests who violate the Southern California Disney park’s “courtesy” policies.
