Disneyland Resort is reshaping its physical footprint this week, and the evidence is impossible to miss from the sidewalk. Let’s take a look at the ongoing construction outside Disney California Adventure Park.
Trees Gone, Ride Foundation Taking Shape

A stretch of mature trees along the perimeter of Disney California Adventure Park has been cleared to make way for the upcoming Coco (2017) attraction. Photos taken by WDWNT this week show at least a dozen trees removed from the site, with mulched remains and stumps still visible on the ground, presumably to be hauled away in the coming days.
Theme park journalist Scott Gustin documented the transformation on X (formerly Twitter) with before-and-after images that illustrate just how dramatically the landscape along Disneyland Drive has changed:
Clearing along Disneyland Drive continues as Disneyland moves forward with work on the upcoming Coco attraction at Disney California Adventure. Here’s a before-and-after look showing how many trees have been removed as the project progresses.

The construction activity isn’t limited to tree removal. A perimeter fence installed back in February now partially reveals the foundation of the Coco attraction behind it. Camouflage netting has arrived on site but hasn’t been installed on the fence yet — once it goes up, it will screen the ongoing work from Disney Park guests and passersby in the area.
What’s Being Built
Walt Disney Imagineering unveiled the Coco attraction at D23 Expo 2024 as part of the broader DisneylandForward expansion initiative. The ride will bring guests to Pixar Pier at Disney California Adventure Park and, according to the only publicly released concept art, will take the form of a boat ride. Disneyland Resort has indicated that guests will follow Miguel into the Land of the Dead, surrounded by skeletal audio-animatronics and the beloved soundtrack from the 2017 Pixar film.

No opening date has been announced for the new Disney California Adventure Park attraction.
