Are you a HUGE Disney fan? Are you willing to spend thousands of dollars to get your Disney fix? If you had the money, would you spend $30,000 just to get some of the most exclusive perks Disney has to offer? Then you might want to consider getting on the waiting list for Disneyland’s Club 33.

Just make sure you don’t do what Scott and Diana Anderson did.

Scott and Diana Anderson were dedicated members of Disneyland’s Club 33, visiting the park 60 to 80 times a year. Their membership, which they maintained for five years, cost them approximately $31,500 annually. The couple enjoyed the exclusivity and benefits associated with Disneyland Club 33 membership, which included VIP tours and access to exclusive events.

However, their experience turned tumultuous after an incident in 2017 when Scott Anderson was found by park security exhibiting signs of intoxication. This led to Disney revoking their membership, a decision that the couple vehemently contested.

The Anderson’s legal battle ensued as they sought to overturn Disney’s decision. They filed a lawsuit claiming wrongful expulsion and damages amounting to $231,000. Their lawyer argued that Scott’s condition was due to a vestibular migraine, not intoxication. However, Disney presented evidence from their security staff, asserting that Scott was indeed under the influence.

On September 3, an Orange County jury sided with Disney, concluding that the company had the right to revoke the Anderson’s membership. This ruling left the couple devastated, feeling robbed of their long-cherished perks of Disneyland Club 33.

So, what exactly are these perks that the Andersons were so desperate to get back?

In addition to the private dining room, special merchandise store, and being able to say that you’re a member of Club 33, there are some perks that add up to thousands of dollars in savings.

Park Entry and Guest Passes

Members of Club 33 enjoy year-round access to Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure, 365 days a year. Unlike the top-tier Inspire Magic Key, which has certain blackout dates, this unlimited access is a unique benefit of Club 33 membership.

In addition to their unrestricted entry, Club 33 members receive 50 complimentary theme park tickets to share with friends. With Disneyland ticket prices recently reaching over $200 on peak days, these tickets represent a significant value—potentially amounting to thousands of dollars in free admission.

Complimentary Lightning Lane Access

In 2021, Disney announced the elimination of its free FastPass system, replacing it with Disney Genie+, a paid service available at both Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World Resort. Guests voiced numerous concerns and complaints leading up to the Genie+ launch, and those issues persisted once it was introduced.

Just under three years later, Disney announced it would discontinue Genie+ and roll out a new program called Lightning Lane Multi Pass. This updated system allows guests to make Lightning Lane reservations in advance and offers unlimited PhotoPass downloads at Disneyland Resort.

Fortunately, club members enjoy complimentary access to the Lightning Lane every time they visit, avoiding any associated fees.

Complimentary VIP Tours

If you frequently visit Disneyland, you’ve likely encountered the cast members known as “plaids.” These cast members, distinguished by their iconic plaid vests, offer private tours to guests willing to pay thousands for the experience.

Those who book a private VIP tour receive a customized schedule, front-of-the-line access to attractions, and priority seating at restaurants, parades, and nighttime fireworks shows. A Disneyland VIP Tour typically costs between $500 and $800 per hour for up to ten guests, with a minimum booking of seven hours.

In contrast, each Club 33 member is entitled to five VIP Tours annually, resulting in significant savings—potentially tens of thousands of dollars—on an experience that most guests cannot access.

Membership to Disneyland’s Club 33 is clearly something that only the elite can afford, and even they have to wait years until they can actually experience it. However, with all the perks, it can become a little bit easier to justify spending so much money. And for huge Disney fans, there might be nothing better than being able to venture behind the club’s storied doors.
