A familiar part of the Disneyland Resort arrival experience is about to change as Disney pushes ahead with a massive transportation project.
Disneyland has confirmed that the Toy Story Parking Area shuttle drop-off will temporarily move from its current location. While guests will still arrive on the eastern side of the resort, buses will soon use a new temporary drop-off slightly farther north and closer to Harbor Boulevard.
For guests who regularly use the Toy Story Parking Area, that means their routine for reaching Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure is getting an adjustment.
Disneyland Is Moving the Shuttle Drop-Off
The Toy Story Parking Area sits south of Disneyland Resort and provides shuttle transportation to the parks. Those buses currently bring guests to the eastern end of the Esplanade, which sits between Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure.
Disney's latest construction update says the Toy Story Lot shuttle drop-off will remain in the East Esplanade area. However, it will move slightly north and closer to Harbor Boulevard.
The change won't happen all at once.
Disney first plans to construct the temporary drop-off area. Once that work is finished, buses can begin using the new location.
After shuttle operations move, the existing drop-off can close.
That sequencing should allow Disney to keep transporting Toy Story Parking Area guests while clearing another section of the Esplanade for construction.
A Much Larger Project Is Behind the Change
While the relocation itself is temporary, the reason behind it is much bigger.
Disney needs the current drop-off area for ongoing Esplanade construction connected to a new pedestrian bridge and transportation hub.
The future transportation hub will replace the Manchester Cast Member parking lot and include a new parking structure with approximately 6,000 spaces. Plans also call for 302 EV charging spaces.
That's only part of the project.
The hub will feature dedicated areas for shuttles and rideshare vehicles, security facilities, and dedicated traffic access from Disney Way. Disney has also demolished additional ticket booths as work on the project progresses.
For now, Toy Story Parking Area guests don't need to find an entirely different way to reach the parks.
Shuttles are still part of the plan, and buses will continue bringing guests to the East Esplanade. The major difference will be exactly where passengers step off.
Disney has not provided an exact opening date for the temporary drop-off in the supplied update.
That makes this another change Disneyland visitors will want to watch as construction continues transforming the resort's eastern arrival area.
