Disney Park Guest Caught Impersonating Cast Member, Taking Money and Reservations

More than a year after Walt Disney World Resort cracked down on unauthorized VIP tour guides, Disneyland Resort finds itself embroiled in a similar controversy. A recent report suggests a Disney Park guest posed as a cast member, potentially profiting from unsuspecting visitors while navigating them through the park.

A History of Unauthorized Disney VIP Tours

In November 2023, Walt Disney World Resort, along with the Orange County Sheriff’s Department, took decisive action against third-party tour guides operating within its parks. Several Annual Passholders were served trespass notices after being caught selling unauthorized “VIP Tours” to guests. These guides leveraged their knowledge of ride wait times, crowd dynamics, and, in some cases, exploited the Disability Access Service (DAS) to help their clients bypass queues.

The consequences were severe: those caught were banned from Disney property and did not receive refunds for their Annual Passes. “Unauthorized commercial activities are not permitted at Disney World as clearly stated in our property rules,” a Disney representative said at the time.

Unauthorized Activity Hits Disneyland Resort

Fast-forward to today, and a new incident has emerged at Disneyland Resort in California. A Redditor using the handle u/gossipchaser shared their unsettling encounter with what they described as a third-party VIP guide masquerading as a Disney cast member. The alleged impersonator reportedly wore a dress resembling the iconic Dapper Dans costumes sold by the Disney Dress Shop—an outfit not typically worn by official Disneyland VIP tour guides.

“They looked like they worked for Disney but I have never seen anyone dressed like this before, only the plaids,” the Redditor wrote. “She was wearing light blue stripe dress with the big D on it but she had a bunch of face gems and a bit over the top face bling.”

“She was very loud and obviously helping a group navigate through the park,” they continued. “…Was she flat out pretending to work there? It was odd.”

Disneyland Resort’s rules explicitly prohibit “unauthorized commercial activities,” including these unofficial VIP tours. Whether the reported impersonator charged her group for the alleged tour or accepted reservations remains unclear. However, guests who suspect similar behavior are encouraged to report it to Disneyland Resort staff to ensure a safe and enjoyable environment for everyone.

Disneyland VIP Tours: The Official Option

For those looking for a legitimate VIP experience, Disneyland Resort offers official private tours led by trained cast members. These guided experiences, which cost between $500 and $800 per hour (with a seven-hour minimum), provide unparalleled access to Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park attractions and entertainment offerings. Prices do not include theme park admission, food, or gratuities.
