After 15 Months, Disney Introduces New Version of Sleeping Beauty Castle

After over a year behind construction walls, the Sleeping Beauty Castle stage at Disneyland Paris Resort has finally reopened. The lengthy refurbishment went far beyond its original timeline, and brought with it both technical improvements and “anti-guest” design choices.

The Sleeping Beauty Castle stage closed last summer with an estimated nine-month refurbishment window. Instead, the closure stretched to 15 months, leaving guests unable to access part of one of the most iconic areas of Disneyland Park. However, according to @DLPReport on X (formerly Twitter), the work is finally finished.

🔧 After 15 months of construction (originally estimated to be 9), Castle Stage was unveiled over the weekend. It features a new anti-slip stage, anti-guests edges, new backstage rooms technical enhancements and overall refurbishment:

The updated stage now includes a slip-resistant surface, more backstage space for Disney cast members, and what @DLPReport described as “anti-guest” architecture. The barriers reportedly prevent guests from climbing onto the stage or entering restricted backstage areas.

Behind the stage, the changes are even more striking:

🔧 The back side of Castle Stage looks the most strikingly different with access for the backstage rooms for tech and performers who won’t have to trek from the parade gate to get on stage anymore.

These backstage updates are designed to support the performers and technicians who bring live shows to life in front of Sleeping Beauty Castle.

The Sleeping Beauty Castle stage reopening also means the return of Cinderella’s Wishing Well. The popular photo-op, along with its nearby path to Sleeping Beauty Castle, was closed during the stage construction.

🔧 With the Castle Stage back open, so are the renovated Wishing Well area, and the access to Sleeping Beauty Castle from that side:

While the Sleeping Beauty Castle stage project has wrapped, Disneyland Paris is still in the midst of multiple resort-wide transformations. At Walt Disney Studios Park, construction continues on World of Frozen, which is expected to open in spring 2026. That expansion will coincide with the park’s official rebrand into Disney Adventure World.

Disney Village is also undergoing significant changes, including the addition of a brand-new McDonald’s restaurant to replace the current retro-inspired location.
