If you’re planning a Disneyland trip soon, you might want to double-check your Trader Sam’s plans—because Disney just changed the timeline.

Trader Sam’s Enchanted Tiki Bar at the Disneyland Hotel has been preparing for a major interior refurbishment, and Disneyland Resort originally confirmed that the indoor seating area would close starting February 17, 2026. Fans immediately treated that date like a deadline. It wasn’t just a “temporary closure” update. It was the kind of announcement that makes guests start rearranging reservations, switching hotel plans, and deciding whether they need to squeeze in one last visit.
But now Disney has delayed the closure.
Instead of shutting down the interior on February 17, the indoor portion of Trader Sam’s will now stay open until March 2, 2026. That gives guests an extra two weeks to experience the full version of the bar before construction begins.
And for Trader Sam’s, the indoor experience is everything.
Yes, the outdoor seating area will remain open, and Tangaroa Terrace Tropical Bar & Grill will still be available. But Trader Sam’s is famous because it isn’t just a place to grab a drink. It’s themed chaos in the best way possible. The inside space is packed with effects, lighting moments, and the kind of interactive atmosphere that feels straight out of Adventureland.

That’s why the closure matters so much.
The refurbishment is expected to last through spring 2026, and Disney has previously suggested the updated interior could reopen in time for the bar’s 15th anniversary celebration on May 25, 2026. While Disney hasn’t given an exact reopening date, it’s clear this project will take time.
And it sounds like Disney is going beyond a basic refresh. Permits tied to the location indicate upgrades like replacing tiki torches and improving show and lighting effects, along with technical updates involving mechanical and electrical systems.
In other words, Disney is likely working to keep Trader Sam’s running smoothly for years to come, especially since it remains one of the most popular hotel experiences at Disneyland Resort.

Still, this delay is a big win for guests visiting in February. If you assumed you’d miss out on indoor Trader Sam’s entirely, that might not be the case anymore.
Of course, the downside is obvious: now that fans know they have a little extra time, Trader Sam’s may get even harder to access as March approaches. And if Disney fans do anything well, it’s rushing to a final chance experience before the walls go up.
